The Rev. Alfred Bashford was in the Merchant Taylors' XI in 1899 and 1900 and although he played in the Cambridge Seniors' match in 1903 he never made it into the XI. He played for Middlesex twice in 1906 and was also a leading hockey player, appearing for Southgate both sides of the Great War. He was for may years the vicar of Hillingdon, Middlesex.
