Nokia Champions League T20, Final: Royal Challengers Bangalore v Mumbai Indians at Chennai, Oct 9, 2011
9 October 2011 - night match (20-over match)

Kanwar and Blizzard are out to open. And it will be Dilshan to open the bowling again, after he managed to keep even Warner quiet in the semi-final

Priyashrav: "RCB has played 2 IPL Finals in 2009 & 2011 and lost both! They also lost a Semi-Final in 2010. MI lost a Final in 2010 and a Qualifier in 2011! Plus, they almost qualified for Semi-Finals but failed at the very last moment. With such fine examples of both the teams failing on big occasions,I'm almost sad that only one of them can choke here................"

Eric: "There are 7 Indians, 1 Srilankan, 1 Australian, 1 West Indian and 1 New Zealender on either side... Coincidence?"

Grant is around, even when Doug Bollinger isn't: "Doug Bollinger is in the stands somewhere, just waiting, chomping at the bit for his opportunity to bowl a beamer at Chris Gayle."

This is RCB's first and last match of the tournament in Chennai. How much will that impact their performance? This is the same pitch on which MI won the semi-final yesterday. Ian Bishop tells us that the pitch will be slow and batsmen will have to work for their runs.

Chitra: "Both teams are not even Champions of IPL and yet competing against each other to be Champions of the Champions League T20!!" Well at least RCB are the IPL finalists

Nitin Sundar, our man at the ground: "Barring the 3 off limit stands, and the most expensive pavilion terrace seats, the ground is about 90% full." So Chennai was saving the turn-out for the final, that is why the crowd decided to give the semi-final a miss yesterday

7.30 pm Harbhajan has won the toss and Mumbai Indians will have a bat

Harbhajan: "Hopefully we will raise our game on a big occasion. We are excited, the final is a big game. This is the place the boys wanted to be, and this is the chance to show we deserve this place."

Vettori: "Looking at the history of the wicket, it gets a little tougher for chasing. We have been led by our batsmen so far. This should be a better wicket for the bowlers."

Both sides are unchanged. Vettori still has confidence in S Aravind, hope the latter also has enough of it left

Have a look at Sid Monga's preview with minutes to go for the toss

Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians were not the first two names that came to mind as possible finalists when the Champions League Twenty20 began over two weeks ago. A team that had the rules changed so that it could put an XI on the field, and a side whose batsmen were consistently tested by their own bowlers' inability to stop leaking runs. Yet we find them facing each other at the home ground of last year's winners for the final. They also met in the IPL semi-final earlier this year. Chris Gayle was on the peak of an unbelievable IPL run that night, he made 89 off 47, and that was the end of MI.
