Champions League Twenty20, Qualifying Pool 2: Trinidad & Tobago v Yorkshire at Centurion, Oct 10, 2012
Champions League Twenty20 - Qualifying Pool 2
Yorkshire won by 6 wickets (with 7 balls remaining)
Played at SuperSport Park, Centurion (neutral venue)
10 October 2012 - day/night match (20-over match)

5.25pm Yorkshire opening with Joe Root once again.

5.15pm T&T have five players who were part of West Indies' World T20-winning squad: Darren Bravo, Lendl Simmons, Ravi Rampaul, Samuel Badree and their captain Denesh Ramdin. Here's what T&T had to say in the build-up to the tournament.

Kaushal: "where is Yorkshire Jonny Bairstow?" He's out injured.

SanjayN: "No Ganga Brothers for T&T? Has Darren retired?" Daren Ganga is on TV commentary right now.

5.05pm Here's our preview for this game.

T&T have packed their squad with openers, and have picked three of them for today's game: William Perkins, Adrian Barath and Lendl Simmons.

Jeffrey: "Not sure I agree with the decision to bat first, think it's probably easier to chase on a foreign pitch than to set a total, especially in a must-win-game." It is generally seen as a surprise that Ramdin chose to bat. He said it looked like a decent pitch, and that he hadn't watched too much of the first game.

Btw, Hampshire captain Dmitri Mascarenhas has been scathing in his assessment of the Centurion track after their defeat to Auckland. "When we saw the pitch yesterday we thought there was no way we could play on the wicket," Mascarenhas said. "We knew that whoever won the toss would win the game. I heard there was a chance the match would be moved to the Wanderers but obviously that didn't happen."

5.00 pm Toss Heads is the call from Ramdin, T&T win, and they will bat. "This is very different from the conditions in Sri Lanka. We have to put the World T20 triumph behind us (the five T&T players who were part of the West Indies squad)."

This is a must-win match for T&T, who have provided plenty of entertainment in their two previous appearances in the CLT20. They are, of course, without the trio of Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo and Sunil Narine.

Andrew Gale: "We are happy playing back-to-back games. Adam Lyth comes in for David Miller." Yorkshire will be on a high after yesterday's win, and a victory for them today will knock out both T&T and Uva Next.

Root to Simmons, 2 runs, Lendl Simmons was on the bench for the whole of the World T20, but he doesn't need any time in the middle to start throwing his bat around, looking to thrash the first ball out of the park, edges it towards third man

Root to Simmons, FOUR, this is a much better shot, a full toss outside off is driven off the front foot past extra cover for four, not much effort on that stroke

Root to Simmons, 1 run, worked towards midwicket for a single

Root to Perkins, no run, skips away from leg stump and slices it towards backward point

Root to Perkins, no run, beaten outside off, Perkins looks to be in some serious hurry here

Root to Perkins, OUT, the ploy to open with Root on a track that has helped the quicks earlier today works, Perkins slams that amiable delivery to the man at long-on, and he will now hurry back to the dug-out, T&T have a penchant for flamboyant (or rash) batting and it has been on show in the first over itself

WKD Perkins c Ballance b Root 0 (2m 3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Sidebottom to Simmons, 1 wide, starts with a leg-side wide

Sidebottom to Simmons, OUT, make that two down, length ball outside off, Simmons looks to carve it through cover, a healthy top edge results in a simple catch for the wicketkeeper, and T&T's openers are both in the dug-out

Patterson to Barath, no run, seams in from a length, beats the inside edge, hits him high on the pad, and headed down leg

Patterson to Barath, OUT, swing and a miss. Pretty mindless from T&T so far. Patterson pitches in the rare full ball, and he swings across the line, but his bat is in one district and the ball in another. Middle stump gone. Wicket-maiden

Azeem Rafiq to Bravo, no run, slides in as Rafiq bowl from round the wicket, off the pads to the leg side

Rakesh: "Look's like T & T are on a Kamakazie mission of self destruction. Winning the toss, batting first on a pitch like this and then comming out all guns blazing as if they need 200+ on this pitch to feel safe." These two seems to be settling down for a bit

Azeem Rafiq to Bravo, FOUR, angling down the leg side, helped down past the short fine leg for four, not the best line when fine leg is in the ring

Azeem Rafiq to Bravo, 2 runs, short of a length ball well outside off, slapped towards deep point

Azeem Rafiq to Bravo, 1 run, full ball on middle stump, clipped towards midwicket

Azeem Rafiq to Ramdin, 1 run, short and plenty of turn there for Rafiq, batsman waits on the back foot and taps it towards midwicket

Ashraf to Ramdin, 1 run, into the pads and that is helped along towards deep square leg

Mikey: "Yorkshire could end up chasing a very low total here. T&Ts depth in batting is weak to say the least." Yes, Ramdin at No. 5 is much too high.

Rashid to Ramdin, 1 run, pushes this one through, on middle and leg, eased towards mid-on for a single

Rashid to Bravo, 1 run, pitched up, driven towards long-off for one more

Paul Cooke agrees with Rob: "I still have huge concerns over depth of yorkshire batting line-up, with no Miller, even more so, although looks like T & T will struggle to post a meaningful total so middle/lower order will not be tested!"

Rashid to Ramdin, FOUR, that was a terrible delivery from Rashid, an absolute half-tracker down the leg side, pulled behind backward square leg

Rashid to Ramdin, 1 run, worked to the leg side for another single

Rashid to Bravo, SIX, Rashid attempts another legbreak, and again he drags it much to short, sits up for Bravo to whack where he wants, Bravo chooses midwicket, easily clears the rope

Azeem Rafiq to Bravo, 1 run, gets down on one knee and sweeps that towards deep backward square leg

Rashid to Bravo, 1 wide, short and down the leg side, poor ball to start from Rashid

Rashid to Bravo, OUT, length ball on off stump, Bravo looks to smash that out of Centurion, not quite off the middle of the bat, the ball goes very very high, but not far enough, long-on is in position to pouch that, Bravo misses out on a half-century but has done his job in re-building this innings

DM Bravo c Ballance b Rashid 45 (56m 49b 3x4 2x6) SR: 91.83

Rashid to Ramdin, 1 run, length ball on off stump, wristed away towards deep midwicket

Rashid to Mohammed, OUT, major communication breakdown here, Jason Mohammed is run out, and T&T have lost two in an over, just when it seemed they had the platform and the set batsmen for an all-out blast in the final over, that was played towards backward point, both batsmen were nearly at the same end, there was plenty of time for the fielder to lob the ball to the bowler

Patterson to Ramdin, 2 runs, eased towards deep midwicket, a delay before they decide to go for the second, the throw wasn't the strongest from the deep, reaches at ankle height for the bowler, who does a good job of collecting it and breaking the stumps, Cooper seemed in trouble when the ball left the fielder's hand, but he has just about reached

Patterson to Ramdin, FOUR, Ramdin gets to his first T20 half-century in some style, a full ball outside the off stump, he opens the face and launches it over short third man for a boundary, superbly done

Patterson to Ramdin, 1 run, punched towards long-on for a single

Rashid to Cooper, 2 runs, nearly another run-out there, another swipe, another top-edge, again the ball heads towards long-on, the ball is just beyond the circle, before the fielder can rush in and fire the throw, they take the second

Ashraf to Cooper, FOUR, Cooper pushes T&T past 130, a full ball outside off, Cooper makes a bit of room and square drives that for four, doesn't bother keeping it on the ground

Oliver: "IN YOUR FACE! (To those who said Ramdin was batting too high)"

Ashraf to Cooper, 1 run, full ball just outside off, Cooper moves across the stumps and whips that towards deep midwicket

Ashraf to Rampaul, SIX, Ravi! what a hit that is, a length ball is pummelled into the grass banks, that is a clean hit from Rampaul, the T&T dug-out loves it, T&T have made 103 in their previous 10 overs

Sidebottom to Ottley, FOUR, pitched up and outside off, sliced towards the deep backward point for a boundary, can T&T get to 150?

Sidebottom to Ottley, 1 run, OUT, full again, slammed towards sweeper cover, immediately the keeper shouts 'keeper, keeper,' to let the fielder know which end to throw as the batsmen look for a tight second, the throw bounces awkwardly but Dodgson collects and breaks the stumps in time, T&T finish on 148, a great comeback after that top-order failure

KYG Ottley run out 5 (5m 2b 1x4 0x6) SR: 250.00

Ryan Sidebottom: "They probably scored 20 too many. But it is still chaseable, the ball is coming on nicely under lights. The ball is swinging a bit. We've done really well, the Bravo-Ramdin partnership was a very good one."

Top batting there from Ramdin and Bravo to lift T&T to what looks an above-par score. With the ball jagging around, Rampaul will be a handful early on, and Yorkshire's batting doesn't look too deep either, especially with Miller missing.

Firdose Moonda, our indefatigable South African correspondent, says there's a bit of a crowd in now. Around 1000 people or so, and they seem to be enjoying themselves at the Centurion.
