17.1, 1 wide, starts with a wide down the leg side
17.1, SIX, pitches it up and where does it go? Straight into the stands over the sight screen. MSD took a step towards off and slammed it 92 metres away from him, the crowd erupts
17.2, 1 wide, well outside off and wide again. Pressure is showing on Perera
17.2, 2 runs, low full toss outside off, Dhoni doesn't connect properly and a misfield at midwicket from Ishant gives them two
17.3, SIX, full toss and where does this one go? Over the fine leg boundary. Dhoni didn't have to use much power their, he used the pace of the bowler to whip it towards a short boundary
17.4, SIX, this one's on a length and Dhoni has played an inside-out slice over deep backward point for another six. He used his wrists to swivel this one and got the distance
17.5, SIX, on length outside off and CRASH BOOM BANG! This has gone over wide long-on for a huge six. It was a repeat of the six he struck to finish the World Cup
17.6, SIX, short outside off, third man in the circle and Dhoni reaches out for an upper cut and it lands on the rope for the fifth six of the over! Took some time to find the ball

Its amazing the way he shocked cricket viewers over these years by his weird moves which can hardly fail! Situation awareness, observation, quickness in reaction! Long story short, Man with a plan.. The one and only MS Dhoni.. Hats off!

So it was poor fielding that caused this. Had Ishant prevented the second run Dhoni would have been at the other end. But I still think that Dhoni should have been the man of the match. It was his batting that made all the difference particularly this over. SRH lost by only 11 runs. Also, too many bowlers may be SRH dilemma as Dhawan does not know who to use when. He should keep Ishant for later use. Dhawan is not good at rotating bowlers. But SRH must be feeling OK because it was an extraordinary batting by Dhoni and they almost chased it that too with a lot of batters contributing.

@Patdabac.You must mean when Dhoni is playing a T20 because I have seen Dhoni look like a deer in the headlights when playing fast swing bowling on a fast surface, its actually quite easy to stop him in real cricket.

Its amazing how an international cricketer like Thisara Perera can have absolutely no control over his bowling.Where was the yorker? Its shocking how ridiculously poor the bowling was.

@Blade-Runner - "Been there, done that"? So what was there to be sweating with nervousness? Even Steyn was dismantled by AB DeVilliers in an IPL game, but he didn't look like a deer caught in a headlight beam.

Congrats to Thisara for the achievement. Does this guy termed as worlds best bowler and better than Styen few days back by SL fans??

India has been blessed with very good batsman and leader in the form of MS Dhoni, Respect from Pakistan!

reply to johnathonjosephs : I dont know why its a problem when Dhoni or Inidan player or Indian team is on the front page, if they deserve, they will be. We have seen thousands of times, when anyone in England or Australia sneezes , its on the front page. This was not a sneeze , this was best of the best cricket.Stop being jealous and appreciate the talent irrespective of the country they come from.

Perera looked highly nervous from the 1st ball. 3 overs and 60 runs - it is hurting a lot !

MSD is unique!!! No issues wid Perera, he is a good bowler.

I guess sl gans wud stop comparisons between steyn and perera after his dismal bowlibg under pressure from best finisher in limited over game.dhoni is unstoppable when in form. perera missed world record for most runs conceded in T20 by a small margin.

@ Deep Thaukur, You must be new to cricket otherwise you should know what happens when dhoni plays for India. he wins cups, smashes bowlers all over and is main reason for India's ascendency in all form of cricket. Check the records.

I like how when Perera himself did this against the South Africans (35 runs off the over) in an INTERNATIONAL 50 OVER MATCH, there was barely anybody who cared, but when Dhoni did this in a T20 DOMESTIC match, its on the front page, etc. That being said, it seems that Dhoni feasts on Sri Lankan bowlers. They are probably his favorite opposition and everyone knows how many times he single handedly has taken the game away from Sri Lanka

Karn Sharma is in the Sunrisers team as a specialist bowler. Yet for the second match in a row, he has not been given any bowling at all. He was one of the notable economic bowlers in IPL. Moreover, a bowler of the calibre of Mishra was given just two overs, even though he was the second most economical bowler after Steyn. Over dependence on part-time spin bowlers like Duminy is surprising. Poor Captaincy here from Dhawan.

I've seen an article like this a couple of weeks ago in an "International" match. It was 6, WIDE, 6, 6,6, 4, 6. It was 2 more runs than this one. Guess who it was, Thisara "Iron Man" Perera. :) So, been there- done that.

Posted by   on (September 26, 2013, 18:27 GMT)

That over cost Hyd the match even though more than a recent start by the openers.

Posted by   on (September 26, 2013, 18:24 GMT)

@ShahidharHundi..

Dhoni is not local boy, he is local Hero. There is a difference you see..

By the way where is Bladerunner, who declared Perera would win the match for SRH. Looked like he played for CSK today. :)

When Dhoni gets going no bowler can do anything other than see the ball sailing over the ropes. It's amazing that Dhoni is yet to get a 50 in T20 internationals, although his 50 over record is brilliant. Feel bad for Perera, who did so well in his last match.

Posted by TamilIndian on (September 26, 2013, 17:23 GMT)

It would not have taken time to find the ball on the last six - gotcha!

Posted by   on (September 26, 2013, 17:23 GMT)

what a player he is.ms dhoni very professional player good athlete too

Posted by IndianEagle on (September 26, 2013, 17:17 GMT)

People talking about school book techniques, look at dhoni's innings another example for his power and strokemaking ability. No words to express these kind of brutal innings.

Posted by   on (September 26, 2013, 17:15 GMT)

Totally thrashed....tough luck perera........

Posted by   on (September 26, 2013, 17:13 GMT)

The best finisher. But what happens when playing for India??
