Champions League Twenty20 - 3rd match, Group B

Chennai Super Kings v Titans

Chennai Super Kings won by 4 wickets (with 7 balls remaining)

Super Kings are in a huddle on the field, Davids and Jacques Rudolph touch gloves. The umpires are not too far behind and it's almost game time in Ranchi. Mohit Sharma has the new ball in hand. Two slips in place for Davids

Paras: "Here I am - an Indian and a die hard Dhoni fan sitting in Australia keeping my fingers crossed around Sunday midnight that CSK bats first so that I can get to see some fireworks from his bat to beat the creeping Monday Blues, but alas, fate has it's own cruel ways!!"

Uwaisul Karnain: "Nice to see Marchant de Lange in action after quite some time"

Ian Bishop, for the pitch report, says the pitch is so good he wants to go out and bat himself. There were a few scratches from the evening match, he says, but walking out to the square he runs his hand over the turf and comes up with a lot of dew.

And placing the magnifying glass on CSK is Nikita Bastian. Here are her predictions for Chennai this season

Chennai Super Kings: MS Dhoni(c and wk), Michael Hussey, M Vijay, Suresh Raina, S Badrinath, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Albie Morkel, R Ashwin, Mohit Sharma, Jason Holder

And here's our South Africa correspondent with a season preview for Titans

Titans: Henry Davids(c), Jacques Rudolph, Heino Kuhn, AB de Villiers, Farhaan Behardien, David Wiese, Roelof van der Merwe, Mangaliso Mosehle (wk), Morne Morkel, Marchant de Lange, Rowan Richards.

Sindhur: "I can see atleast 7 players in Titans squad who played at international level. We cant underestimate them by any way. lets watchout for david weise here. He might be a probable replacement for kallis in limited overs format" For more things to watch out for, take a peek at the preview for tonight's game

Davids calls that the pitch would stay the same throughout the game and hopes the Titans, who bat deep, could set a defendable total. He adds that their fast bowling is their strength and thinks the Ranchi pitch will suit his attack that can hit 140kph regularly

7.30pm MS Dhoni and Henry Davids are at the toss. And Chennai Super Kings have won it and have decided to bowl. Dhoni says there is some dew on the ground and thinks it will only get worse from here on. Chris Morris, with a small "niggle", Faf du Plessis, Wriddhiman Saha and Imtiaz Ahmed are the players to miss out on making the Super Kings XI

Hello and welcome to live coverage of the third match of the Champions League T20, which pits Chennai Super Kings and Titans against each other. This could well be a battle between Super Kings' batting and Titans' bowling. What do you guys think?

0.1

Sharma to Davids, no run, and some excitement straight away. Mohit gets some in swing and by virtue of keeping it full, raps the batsman on the pads as he extends forwards. Big appeal, but the Umpire takes his time and moves away, judging it not out

0.2

Sharma to Davids, no run, loads more movement, but it is wasted as the ball was targeted full and outside off stump. Davids is watchful and leaves it alone rightly

0.3

Sharma to Davids, 1 wide, a little shorter, but Mohit persists with a line quite wide outside off. The batsman goes for a cut, but with his feet made of lead, can't get to the ball

0.3

Sharma to Davids, no run, much better, sticks to the fullish length and the in dip is much more effective since this ball is targeting off stump. Davids gets a thickish inside edge and it goes toward mid-on

0.4

Sharma to Davids, FOUR, uses his feet and pulls out a classical cover drive. Just walks into this fuller ball outside off and just looks to time this one through the cover field and he succeeds

0.5

Sharma to Davids, 2 runs, and Mohit adjusts, going back of a length and Davids, weight on the back foot, steers it to third man

0.6

Sharma to Davids, 1 run, outside edge to end a very eventful over. This one straightens after pitching and Davids, on the drive, takes the single as the ball runs just wide of second slip and down to third man

End of over 1 (8 runs) Titans 8/0 (RR: 8.00)
H Davids    7* (6b 1x4)      MM Sharma    1-0-8-0
JA Rudolph    0* (0b)

Holder to share the new ball

1.1

Holder to Davids, no run, and he uses all of his height to beat the batsman. Back of a length and this one straightens as well. Squares Davids up as he gets back and tries to defend it, but there is miles between bat and ball

1.2

Holder to Davids, 1 run, keeps it back of a length again and Davids prods it to cover from the crease and gets off strike

1.3

Holder to Rudolph, no run, Dhoni dives to his right to grab a great take. And there are instant chants of "Dhoni, Dhoni" around the ground. This was shortish and on the pads. Rudoplh was looking to work it square onthe leg side but the ball brushes his thigh pad and goes to the keeper

leg slip in

1.4

Holder to Rudolph, 1 run, and he shifts to the off stump now. Rudolph goes back and pushes it to cover

1.5

Holder to Davids, no run, goes fuller and he's on target as Davids covers his stumps and puts a straight bat to ball

1.6

Holder to Davids, no run, he walks into this one again, but this time there is a little in dip which makes his flick off the legs useless as the ball thuds into his pads

End of over 2 (2 runs) Titans 10/0 (RR: 5.00)
H Davids    8* (10b 1x4)      JO Holder    1-0-2-0
JA Rudolph    1* (2b)      MM Sharma    1-0-8-0

2.1

Sharma to Rudolph, no run, hint of away swing, but it is wasted as the ball is too wide outside off stump. The batsman misses out there. There was more than enough room to cut, perhaps too much room

2.2

Sharma to Rudolph, no run, beaten. Fullish length and it nibbles away off the seam. Rudolph was committed into a defensive stroke off the back foot and goes with hard hands, but misses

2.3

Sharma to Rudolph, no run, shortish ball outside off and he flat bats it into the covers

2.4

Sharma to Rudolph, FOUR, more classical cricket getting rich results. this was a good length ball, on and around off, but Rudolph goes confidently forward and times it through the gap between cover and mid-off for his first boundary

around the wicket

2.5

Sharma to Rudolph, 1 run, back of a length and its punched down to mid-on. The call for a single was early and all the better for it

2.6

Sharma to Davids, no run, Davids is highly keen to use his feet, but his head falls over as he looks to hit fullish ball outside off over the leg side and he can't make contact

End of over 3 (5 runs) Titans 15/0 (RR: 5.00)
H Davids    8* (11b 1x4)      MM Sharma    2-0-13-0
JA Rudolph    6* (7b 1x4)      JO Holder    1-0-2-0

3.1

Holder to Rudolph, FOUR, Another gorgeous drive. This was fuller and wider from the big, tall fast bowler and Rudolph makes the most of it, getting into a very-well balanced position, with a nice strong stride forward and beats the man at point

3.2

Holder to Rudolph, 1 leg bye, and that makes Holder attack the batsman's pads, the flick doesnt make contact but as the ball squirts off his pads, the batsmen sneak a single

3.3

Holder to Davids, no run, rashness again. Dances down the track and gives it a good hoick, but the ball, having hit back of a length and it seams away and Davids is beatean all ends up and is made to look a little silly

3.4

Holder to Davids, 1 run, fuller on the pads and he ficks it over the in-field to deep midwicket

3.5

Holder to Rudolph, no run, goes shorter and it's outside off, which allows Rudolph to punch it into the covers

3.6

Holder to Rudolph, no run, worked off his pads into midwicket. Holder alternating between a full and short lengths at the moment

End of over 4 (6 runs) Titans 21/0 (RR: 5.25)
JA Rudolph    10* (11b 2x4)      JO Holder    2-0-7-0
H Davids    9* (13b 1x4)      MM Sharma    2-0-13-0

4.1

Sharma to Davids, no run, and he plays and misses again. After that first cover drive, Davids seems to have lost all his timing. But the bowler deserves some credit there. It was the back of the hand slower ball

4.2

Sharma to Davids, no run, and a brilliant ball to follow up, especially to a batsman who wants to come down the track. Digs it in nice and short, gets it to rise around head high and its well directed too. Davids goes for the hook and is beaten again

4.3

Sharma to Davids, no run, tucks him up off the fuller length this time, a little seam inward helped as Davids is stuck in his crease and blocks it

Dale Steyn tweets: The Titans still have "Loslappie" playin as their team song...Maybe need a change considering it's the start of a tournament...

4.4

Sharma to Davids, 1 run, comes down the track again and bunts the good length ball on middle down the ground

4.5

Sharma to Rudolph, no run, and the left-hander is not given any room either. Mohit targets the middle stump and forces the batsman on his back foot and play with a straight bat

Round the wicket for the last ball

4.6

Sharma to Rudolph, no run, back of a length, homing in above the off stump and Rudolph blocks it

End of over 5 (1 run) Titans 22/0 (RR: 4.40)
JA Rudolph    10* (13b 2x4)      MM Sharma    3-0-14-0
H Davids    10* (17b 1x4)      JO Holder    2-0-7-0

5.1

Holder to Davids, no run, his height is doing a lot of his work for him, as expected as this one rises off a back of a length outside off and the batsman who goes to slap this over third man is beaten

5.2

Holder to Davids, 2 runs, picks it up off his hips and hits it in the air to deep midwicket

5.3

Holder to Davids, SIX, finally, he connects and how! He removes his front leg out of the line of the ball, which was full and angling into his pads, and launches this over cow corner for a maximum

5.4

Holder to Davids, 2 runs, this time he actually steps away outside leg stump and cuts the ball that was on a good length and following him, through cover

5.5

Holder to Davids, no run, charges at the bowler, but he outsmarts him with a slower ball. Davids is beaten again as he goes for a wild slog

5.6

Holder to Davids, 1 leg bye, another slower ball and Davids is way too early into the pull shot. The shortish ball is deflected off his hip and goes to point

End of over 6 (11 runs) Titans 33/0 (RR: 5.50)
H Davids    20* (23b 1x4 1x6)      JO Holder    3-0-17-0
JA Rudolph    10* (13b 2x4)      MM Sharma    3-0-14-0

Mohit to bowl out

6.1

Sharma to Davids, 1 run, sees Davids charging at him again and digs this one down into the middle of the pitch, but the room available allows the batsman to adjust and slap the ball down to mid-on

Raj: "With Man City vs ManUtd playing their derby today, I have no chance to watch the TV. My sons have taken control of the remote. My only choice is ESPN Cricinfo! :-("

Around the wicket to the left-hander

6.2

Sharma to Rudolph, 2 runs, but there is no change in length. Mohit goes for the batsman's throat, but it comes up only to around mid-chest and Rudolph pulls it between deep midiwicket and square leg and they collect two

6.3

Sharma to Rudolph, FOUR, there's some useful improvisation. Rudolph makes some room outside his leg stump and simply lofts this full length ball up and over the cover field. Good head position and balance was the difference there

6.4

Sharma to Rudolph, FOUR, oh and that's clever batting. Mohit is trying a little too much in his last over as he goes very short again, but it sits up wide outside the off stump and Rudolph just ramps it over to the third man boundary

6.5

Sharma to Rudolph, 1 run, tucks him up with simple good length and middle stump bowling and the batsman can only dab it off down to long-on

6.6

Sharma to Davids, 1 run, OUT, gone! Rudolph wanted the second, but Davids was not looking to chance Bravo's arm from deep point. This one full and driven through the covers Bravo, from deep point, cuts the angle, and gets the ball in to the keeper who does the rest

JA Rudolph run out 21 (31m 17b 4x4 0x6) SR: 123.52

End of over 7 (13 runs) Titans 46/1 (RR: 6.57)
H Davids    22* (25b 1x4 1x6)      MM Sharma    4-0-27-0
     JO Holder    3-0-17-0

AB de Villiers is in at one drop and Dhoni brings on Ashwin, who starts off round the wicket

7.1

Ashwin to Davids, no run, leg stump line, fullish and the batsman blocks it down the pitch

7.2

Ashwin to Davids, no run, this seems to be the one that turns the other way and Davids who goes fir the reverse sweep is beaten

7.3

Ashwin to Davids, 1 run, worked off his pads as this is a full length delivery on leg stump

7.4

Ashwin to de Villiers, 1 run, tiny bit of room offered and he goes back in his crease and steers it to third man easily

7.5

Ashwin to Davids, SIX, this time he nails it. Chips down the wicket and drills this high and handsome over the long-on fence.

7.6

Ashwin to Davids, 1 wide, and Ashwin pulls out his halt and deliver. But the ball is outside leg and the batsman who goes for a sweep cant connect

7.6

Ashwin to Davids, 1 run, fuller, but this time the ball is outside off and he punches it through the covers

End of over 8 (10 runs) Titans 56/1 (RR: 7.00)
H Davids    30* (30b 1x4 2x6)      R Ashwin    1-0-10-0
AB de Villiers    1* (1b)      MM Sharma    4-0-27-0

Albie Morkel, CSK's most successful bowler with 90 wickets, from the other end

8.1

Morkel to Davids, no run, and he gets it nice and full. Davids, who again comes at the bowler, almost yorks himself as he looks to drive

8.2

Morkel to Davids, 1 run, stays in his crease this time, but plants the front foot forward to meet this good length ball and block it into the covers

8.3

Morkel to de Villiers, no run, elegant. This was full and inviting the drive. AB takes up the challenge. High elbow, straight bat, crisp sound off the bat, but mid-off stops it

8.4

Morkel to de Villiers, 2 runs, and that is ram-rod straight. Fuller, on middle and AB gets his weight forward and drills it down the ground where Hussey comes round and dives to make a useful stop

8.5

Morkel to de Villiers, 1 run, this time its AB's turn to get down the track and he dabs this down to long-on

Dhoni comes up to the stumps

8.6

Morkel to Davids, FOUR, but it seems Davids was waiting for that, as he gets forward and across to the off side, meets this one on the full and paddles it to the fine leg fence, Good improvisation

End of over 9 (8 runs) Titans 64/1 (RR: 7.11)
H Davids    35* (33b 2x4 2x6)      JA Morkel    1-0-8-0
AB de Villiers    4* (4b)      R Ashwin    1-0-10-0

Ashwin still around the wicket

9.1

Ashwin to de Villiers, 1 run, fuller, but flatter. AB prods it down the ground for a single

9.2

Ashwin to Davids, 1 run, he gets down on one knee and sweeps it to deep square leg

9.3

Ashwin to de Villiers, 2 runs, a little shorter and with AB already making room for himself, he carves it over point. Jadeja, the sweeper cover, runs around and collects it at the boundary and throws it back in

9.4

Ashwin to de Villiers, 1 run, almost no spin here for Ashwin because of the dew. AB realises this and gets down the track and drives it to deep cover

9.5

Ashwin to Davids, 1 run, full and on middle, Davids gets on the front foot and pushes it to long-on

Ashwin is using toweling the ball after every delivery

9.6

Ashwin to de Villiers, 2 runs, the long stride helps him meet the ball on the full and he opens the face of the bat as he drives it down the ground

RoshanKoirala: "Earlier someone was talking about a fact that titans have as many as seven players who have played international matches..let me remind him/her that all the players from this CSK team have represented their country in international arena"

End of over 10 (8 runs) Titans 72/1 (RR: 7.20)
AB de Villiers    10* (8b)      R Ashwin    2-0-18-0
H Davids    37* (35b 2x4 2x6)      JA Morkel    1-0-8-0

Harit Gautam: "With ManU playing today, am wondering how focussed Dhoni would be on this game !!"

More spin from CSK. Ravindra Jadeja inot the attack

10.1

Jadeja to Davids, FOUR, and he's lofted over cover first ball. Lovely strike. Davids, making a little room, uses the little flight Jadeja affords and doesnt look to over hit it, as he has been doing a lot this innings and is rewarded for it

Dinesh: "Thank god, there is no strategy break."

10.2

Jadeja to Davids, 1 run, full on middle and its tucked into the leg side and deep midwicket is too quick and denies the batsman a double

10.3

Jadeja to de Villiers, 1 run, moves around in his crease, but Jadeja keeps it at the stumps and AB drives it to long on

10.4

Jadeja to Davids, 1 run, he looks to come down the track again and uses soft hands this time to run it between cover and point

10.5

Jadeja to de Villiers, SIX, he's murdered that! Giant stride forward slog-sweeps this for a 95m six. Jadeja isn't flighting it too much, but its still enough to throw him into the stands

10.6

Jadeja to de Villiers, 1 run, and he moves to the leg side again and calmly guides this one into the covers off the front foot to take the single and retain strike

End of over 11 (14 runs) Titans 86/1 (RR: 7.81)
AB de Villiers    18* (11b 1x6)      RA Jadeja    1-0-14-0
H Davids    43* (38b 3x4 2x6)      R Ashwin    2-0-18-0

Dhoni, sensing spin not working, brings on Dwane Bravo

11.1

Bravo to de Villiers, FOUR, and he leaks a boundary first ball. Finds the gap between deep square leg and deep midwicket with pin-point precision as he works his wrists over this short ball and pulls it

11.2

Bravo to de Villiers, SIX, This is 92m! AB de Villiers is playing a blinder here. This one is a length ball on middle and AB sets himself up and smashes it well over long-on

11.3

Bravo to de Villiers, 1 run, Bravo goes back of a length and AB tucks him behind square on the leg side

11.4

Bravo to Davids, 1 leg bye, and there's Bravo's slower ball. Davids looks to paddle it, but he's beaten by the slower pace and has to settle for a leg bye

11.5

Bravo to de Villiers, 1 run, and this one is crunched down the ground as AB comes down the track and turns it into a half-volley. Holder does well as he moves to his right and fields it one-bounce

11.6

Bravo to Davids, 1 run, shortish length and Davids on his back foot, just dabs it to point and takes a single

Zohaib: "De Villiers at his best. It's always a pleasure to watch him perform. Clearly the best batsman in all forms of the game."

End of over 12 (14 runs) Titans 100/1 (RR: 8.33)

Deepak Langer: "Jadeja is in for a show tonight... uh.. may be with the bat"

Titans have raised their second fifty in 25 balls

12.1

Jadeja to Davids, 1 run, darts it in again. Davids looks to sweep, but the ball takes a thick inside edge and squirts off to short fine leg

12.2

Jadeja to de Villiers, FOUR, droppedMohit gets a hand to it, but he cant hold on. You've got to take those. he could have gone with two hands. AB comes down the track and carves this over the point, it was wide of Mohit, but he made good ground and just stuck his left hand out and drops it

12.3

Jadeja to de Villiers, SIX, another one and this is just as huge. Shorter and flatter and around middle and off. But AB rocks back and smashes it well over the boundary at midwicket

12.4

Jadeja to de Villiers, 1 run, Dhoni and Jadeja have a conversation and this might have been the result of it. Jadeja bowls this well wide of off stump and AB dabs it to third man

12.5

Jadeja to Davids, 3 runs, wide of off again, and this one is very full. Davids gets under it and lofts it over the two fielders square on the off side. The sweeper fielder and point dive simultaneously and almost collide into each other

12.6

Jadeja to de Villiers, 2 runs, flatter and aimed way outside off again, but AB goes across and cuts it to point

End of over 13 (17 runs) Titans 117/1 (RR: 9.00)

13.1

Ashwin to Davids, FOUR, fifty for Davids. It was the pause and deliver from Ashwin, but that doesnt throw him off as he gets into the sweep to this full length ball on middle.

13.2

Ashwin to Davids, 1 wide, OUT, but he's gone this time. Use of the feet ruins him and for one last time in the match. Useful innings ends. Ashwin saw him coming and darted this one wide outside the off stump. Davids misses and Dhoni does the needful

Farhaan Behardien is the new man

13.2

Ashwin to Behardien, no run, good length ball outside off slapped to short cover where Jadeja does a good job

13.3

Ashwin to Behardien, 1 run, driven down to long-off where Holder keeps it to one

13.4

Ashwin to de Villiers, no run, this seems to be the leg break, but AB seems to have picked it as he stays back and cuts it to point

13.5

Ashwin to de Villiers, 1 leg bye, another leg break, but this one is wide outside leg as he sees the batsman rushed at him. AB looks to work it away into the leg side but can't make contact with hte bat

13.6

Ashwin to Behardien, 1 run, fuller and on off stump, Behardien pushes it down to long-off

Mr. G: "I hope South Africa do not burden AB with wicket keeping and captaincy and make us wonder what he could have been a few years from now. Minus those two responsibilities, he'll be the greatest batsman South Africa's produced, and with some luck, in the top five greatest in the world."

Bravo back into the attack

14.1

Bravo to Behardien, no run, good line there to the new batsman. Full and just around the corridor. Behardien gets behind the ball and blocks it back to the bowler

14.2

Bravo to Behardien, no run, another good length ball, homing in on off stump and Behardien can only push it back to Bravo again

14.3

Bravo to Behardien, 1 run, this is a litte shorter and on length he pulls it. There is no room for that shot which is why the ball just dribbles down to deep midwicket

RoshanKoirala: "Dhoni has to bring their premier fast bowler Jason Holder back on attack, atleast to slow down the scoring rate"

Round the stumps

14.4

Bravo to de Villiers, 1 run, AB advances again, but Bravo digs it in short. The ball was rising to his head, but he adjusts very well, swatting it over to deep midwicket.

14.5

Bravo to Behardien, FOUR, And Behardien gets into the act. Straight bat comes down the line of this good length ball on off stump and the ball screams away to the long-off boundary

and that prompts mid-off to go back as Bravo comes back over the wicket

14.6

Bravo to Behardien, FOUR, but it doesn't make one bit of difference. Carved through cover for four. Pushes forward and places his foot well wide of leg stump to make some room and creams this ball which was full and on off stump wide of the diving Mohit Sharma

End of over 15 (10 runs) Titans 135/2 (RR: 9.00)

15.1

Ashwin to de Villiers, 1 run, full on middle and AB works it away to deep midwicket off his front foot

15.2

Ashwin to Behardien, SIX, oh, that was a long hop. And its treated as such. Pitches it halfway down the pitch and gives the batsman all the time he needs to pull it over the boundary rope at square leg

15.3

Ashwin to Behardien, 2 runs, this seems to be the carrom ball. It turns the other way and Behardien, on his back foot, makes the lat adjustment as he dabs it away to the off side

15.4

Ashwin to Behardien, 1 run, another one that turns the other way and being short of a length, he has more time to decipher it and work it down to long-on

the dew is affecting the spinners a lot here

15.5

Ashwin to de Villiers, 1 run, comes down the track and drives the full length ball to long-on

15.6

Ashwin to Behardien, no run, gets his head right over this full length ball outside off and pushes it smartly to the covers

Jason Holder comes back to try and stem the runs. Last 10 overs, 113 runs

16.1

Holder to de Villiers, no run, and he starts well. Slower short ball and the batsman tries to upper cut it away but he can't connect

16.2

Holder to de Villiers, 1 run, oh, its a leading edge. AB seems to have lost his hitting form lately. Jadeja runs in from long-on and makes a valiant effort. He dives forward but the ball bounces inches in front of him

16.3

Holder to Behardien, 1 run, covers his stumps and drags this good length ball around to deep midwicket off the back foot

16.4

Holder to de Villiers, SIX, AB proves me wrong, and how! Comes down the track and launches this full length ball right over mid-off's head and creams another six to record his fifty

16.5

Holder to de Villiers, no run, slog and miss. That was in the slot and with mid-off up there was a lot of invitation to hit it straight down the pitch. But AB goes across the line to hit it to cow corner. And the ball skirts a feather's distance away from the off stump on its way to the keeper

16.6

Holder to de Villiers, no run, this one is dug in, and follows the batsman as he makes room outside his leg stump. AB looks to ramp it, but is beaten again

17.2

Bravo to Wiese, no run, and he's greeted with a short ball. He tries to come forward, but has to duck beneath it. Good fiery bowling to the new batsman

Bravo to Wiese, OUT, and the short ball does him in. He did not look comfortable playing the last one and this time he looks even worse as he plays the hook far too late and the ball goes straight up in the air. Ashwin, from mid-on, comes around and takes a simple catch

Van der Merwe the new man

17.4

Bravo to de Villiers, SIX, slower ball, picked, checks his shot and smashed. He charges down the wicket as Bravo's full length ball sits up for him and it's sent packing straight down the ground

17.5

Bravo to de Villiers, 1 run, full and wide this time, and AB having made a little room for himself has to reach out to carve this one to deep point

17.6

Bravo to van der Merwe, no run, AB has been using the crease really well in this innings, but this time Bravo follows him as he steps to the leg side and bowls it shorter. He tries to ramp it as but can't make contact

Jadeja into the attack. Can he hold AB back?

18.1

Jadeja to de Villiers, 1 run, full length, outside off and its swept to deep square leg, but its off a thick inside edge though. And AB takes a little breather at the non-striker's end, sweat dripping off his brow

18.2

Jadeja to van der Merwe, 1 run, flatter and fuller but its easily negotiated as the batsman drives it down the ground to long-on

18.3

Jadeja to de Villiers, SIX, he gets one hand off the bat, but the ball still goes over the rope. This one was wide and full outside off stump, causing AB to reach out, which makes his hand slip off the handle but it doesn't affect the result as the ball is powered for another six

18.4

Jadeja to de Villiers, SIX, and another one. Jadeja has walked into a nightmare in Ranchi and his name is AB de Villers. This is bowled as wide as he could outside off, but he slams it straight over long-off's head

18.5

Jadeja to de Villiers, FOUR, and there's another example of how unconventional AB can be. He gets across on his off stump and sweeps it so strongly between the men at square leg and short fine leg

18.6

Jadeja to de Villiers, OUT, miscued and its caught at long-off. This may have been held back just a little bit, and AB, in the mood he was in, hits it straight over the top, but he gets more height than distance this time

Bravo to finish things off. Round the wicket to the keeper Mangaliso Mosehle

19.1

Bravo to Mosehle, no run, back of a length ball, tucking him up and he bunts it to Bravo off the back foot

19.2

Bravo to Mosehle, 2 runs, short ball again and Mosehle slashes at it, using the very little room afforded to scythe the ball over point's head

19.3

Bravo to Mosehle, no run, another short ball and this one is quick and well directed too. Mosehle is slow on the pull as the ball sails over the top edge of his bat to Dhoni

19.4

Bravo to Mosehle, 1 leg bye, good discipline from Bravo to keep getting the ball around the batsman's chest. The pull shot doesnt connect this time either, but they collect a leg bye

19.5

Bravo to van der Merwe, 1 bye, slower ball deceives the batsman who looks to hit it over the top again. The batsman sneak for a bye

19.6

Bravo to Mosehle, 2 runs, and Bravo goes shorter to Mosehle, who gets a top edge. Morkel at fine leg hares after the ball, pulls out a full length dive and but he cannot reach. The batsmen collect two and that is the end of it

9.34pm Phew! That was some very clean hitting from AB de Villers. He completely eclipsed his captain, Henry Davids' half-century. Things changed completely ever since Jadeja was brought on to bowl. But AB served out the punishment quite evenly as he amassed 77 in only 36 balls. Titans have made the highest total of this year's Champions League so far and Chennai will have to do something special to make it here. Join us in about 10 minutes' time for the chase

Sachin: "@Sushil, or Morkel's countrymen would know his weaknesses..."

Uwaisul Karnain: "I know CSK bat deep and a very good chasing side. But this seems to be an uphill task for them against the likes of Morne Morkel & Marchant de Lange"

sushil: "Why morkel would bowl only 1 over against his country men is besides me. You would think he would know their weakness."
