Rubel Hossain has contracted chicken pox, becoming the latest Bangladesh seamer to suffer a physical setback. He will miss the limited-overs leg of the Zimbabwe tour, after picking up the illness on Friday.

Rubel had earlier been rested for the second Test due to a shoulder niggle, and had gone down with fever on the first night of the second Test.

"We cannot send him back now because the disease is contagious and he has to travel by plane, plus he is weak now," said team manager Tanjib Ahsan Saad. "But after he recovers, which is expected to be six to seven days, he will most likely travel back home."

With Rubel out, the remaining seamers are Robiul Islam, Ziaur Rahman, Sajidul Islam and Shafiul Islam. The team management may retain Robiul for the ODIs, following his good form in the ongoing Tests.

Meanwhile, Shahriar Nafees and Enamul Haque Jr left Harare for Dhaka on Saturday evening to make way for Abdur Razzak and Shamsur Rahman, who will join the limited-overs squad.

In order to get promoted to national side, one has to go through under 19 and the A team is a conventional thought process. You need to think out of the box and aggressively in selecting and rejecting players. Any player who through their wickets needs to be stripped of big chunk of points and all players shall have points (1000) based on parameters set out.

I don't think international cricket is the best thing for Taskin atm. He is a good find for Bangladesh and we have to ensure that he gets proper guidance and experience at domestical level and u19s before making an international debut. Finally the selectors have actually put some thought in their selection of players!

I agree with TheRisingTeam. Taskin needs more time to further develop his skills. He should play under 19 and then A team in addition to NCL, DPL before making his international debut.

Would want Nazmul to replace Rubel in the team...

@DanielAhmed:- Taskin Ahmed is definitely not ready for International Cricket far too young and a very valuable fast bowler for the future. Every Bangladesh fan want to see Taskin but we should let him develop. I'm surprised though he doesn't even play for our under-19 team still probably injured who knows?

Rubel Hossain was disappointing in Sri Lanka and bowling need a lot of work. Wish him well on his recovery.

Bring in Anamul in place of Jahrul and Nayeem Islam / Ashraful can fill position 3.

Happy! God is helping the selectors to make the right decisions. Hope Rubel recuperate soon. I personally think Robiul and X are the ideal openers for Bangladesh. Mashrafi probably would have been the automatic choice but injuries frustrate everyone, anyhow Shafiul is still a far better option than Rubel. So Robiul and Shafiul probably the best combination we have. BTW what happened to TASKIN AHmed!!
