Honesty !!! Yes we all saw it to the peak in the infamous Sydney test where only one team played the cricket in the spirit of game and honestly. He is a good may be class player, but not a honest player for sure in my view.
Posted by pappadu on (November 30, 2012, 1:26 GMT)Mr. Chappel, Certainly agree with you that he is such a great passionate and great batsman, but you must be joking or you must be blinded by favoritisim when talking about his honesty. What he has is selective honesty; Aus winning the match takes precedence over honesty for him.
Posted byHonesty? Only through the proverbial yellow tinted eye patch. Fiercely competitive and highly successful yes. Unfortunately the rest of the world saw the ugly side when the aggressive competitive streak went beyond honest. When he wasn't captaining a dominant team, he began to show his frustration by intimidating umpires. There are also numerous examples of not walking when he was obviously out (ask Gilly!), plus claiming grassed catches.

He must be a great cricketer, though he brought game to disrepute, and made it a game of abusive hooligans for whom only winning was important. And yes, who else but one coming from a family that can do under arm bowling to win a match can give a tag of honesty to him........
Posted byMakes me wonder if Ian, like his brother Greg, has lost his mind. Ages certainly has caught up with both of them. Calling Ponting honest is like calling George Bush Jnr a peace prize winner. One of the most hated captains by Australians, he sucked the sportsmanship out of cricket. A cry baby of the highest order who had a bad attitude with opponents, umpires and fans alike. Had absolutely no regard for the spirit of the game.

This jerk doesnt know the synonymn of honesty..He is the main culprit in the sydney test vs India...The other one is Clarke..They both are real saddist...They should learn from the lights of Gilly and sachin..
Posted byThe whole cricketing fraternity Ponting had a bad record with regards to honesty and sportsmanship ,under his captaincy no wonder cricket was no longer a gentleman's game.Though he was an outstanding batsman far higher than the one who people claim to be god of cricket.
Posted byAbsolutely sad for any genuine cricket lover. I love the way he went about batting whether Australia had lost a wicket in the first over or when he came in to bat when the score was 100 for one. When he strode out to bat you could feel an aura in the air and something that the opposition too quickly realized. Sadly his loss of the ashes seems to have overpowered his phenomenal achievements as winner of three world cups and leading the number 1 team in the world for several years and his absolutely dominant batting not to forget his electric fielding. He left at the perfect time knowing that the team is in strong hands under Clarke. I wish him the very best. thanks Punter for the years of enjoyment you gave us Ramanujam Sridhar
