Edward Hadow was a key member of the Harrow side which recorded back-to-back wins over Eton in 1880 and 1881, his scores of 28, 49, 11 and 94 playing a major part in their success. He subsequently played regularly for Middlesex, but he only passed fifty three times in 54 matches. The best of his six first-class fifties came at the Scarborough festival in 1888 when he made 75 for I Zingari against Gentlemen of England. A brilliant racquets player, he was in the Harrow side which won the Public Schools' Challenge Cup in 1880 and 1881.
