Frank Knox played for Lancashire for three seasons, mainly as an opening batsman, and despite an extended run in the XI he was unable to secure a regular place. He initially played for Northumberland between 1957 and 1963 (scoring 2092 runs at 29.46) before moving to Old Trafford. In 1965 he scored 699 runs at 19.41 including two hundreds, his maiden one in his first Roses match. The following year he made 828 runs at 19.25 but after one outing in 1967 he was released.
