Sir Geoffrey Wiliam Vavasour, Bt has a distinguished military career as gunnery officer, latterly Commander, Royal Navy and he was later pioneer in sports sponsoreship with Slazengers. He played cricket, tennis, rugby and golf for the Navy, and played one first-class match for Combined Services (1947), scoring 8 and 6.
