After returning from war service in France, North Africa and Italy, Mike White made his debut for Northamptonshire in 1947 while still in the Army after an impressive performance for Combined Services against Northamptonshire - he therefore played for and against the same county in the same season. He took three wickets in six balls in each innings against Somerset and went on to play 21 first-class matches taking 42 wickets at 36.28. His best performance came in 1937 when he took 4 for 37 for Cambridge against the Army, his best batting was 48 for Combined Services against Hampshire 11 years later. He was promoted to Brigadier in 1959 and made aide-de-camp to the Queen in 1963. After retiring White served as president of Guernsey CC and Incogniti CC and continued to bowl his offspin until the age of 72.
