Gerry Wyatt, who died on June 19 in Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport aged 68 after a heart attack, was a useful right-handed batsman and reserve wicketkeeper who made 11 appearances for Derbyshire between 1954 and 1960. He had the misfortune to understudy the accomplished George Dawkes, who was then succeeded by Bob Taylor. Wyatt scored 184 runs at an average of 11.50 with a best innings
of 59 against Oxford University in The Parks in 1958. He played league cricket for David Brown and was employed by the brake company Ferodo for a number of years.
