After extended periods playing in Melbourne club cricket and then in the Australian Capital Territory, Mark Divin finally found a way into the state scene when he settled in Tasmania. A financial advisor, he headed south in 2006-07 without a cricket contract but a strong club season earned him a state deal for 2007-08. An allrounder who combines lower-order hitting with right-arm medium-pace bowling, Divin was part of Tasmania's triumphant one-day team in his first season. His promising debut match featured a wicket third ball, a sliding catch in the outfield and 41 from 39 balls, including three sixes. The best of his seven games came against Queensland in Launceston when he made 63 and grabbed 4 for 47 in a losing side. Divin finished the season with 152 runs at 30.40 and seven wickets at 28.28. He was also a regular in Tasmania's Twenty20 team but will be aiming for first-class opportunities in 2008-09.
