Profile

Douglas Sang Hue stood in 31 Tests over almost 20 years, but the bulk of his appearances came in the 1970s. He first stood at Sabina Park in 1961-62 in what was also his first first-class match, but through the 1970s he stood in most Caribbean Tests. In 1972-73 he became the first person to stand in al five Tests in a series in the West Indies, a feat he repeated the following season against England. In 1977, after a summer spent officiating in England, he signed for Kerry Packer's World Series Cricket and that led to him being dropped by the West Indies board, although Bobby Simpson, the Australian captain, had objected to him standing on grounds of incompetence. He returned in 1981 for three Tests but that was his lot, although he continued in domestic cricket until 1988.

As the players turn to walk off, Greig picks up the ball and throws down the stumps at the non-striker's end where Alvin Kallicharran is rambling off. He hits ths stumps, appeals, and umpire Sang Hue gives Kallicharran run-out. West Indies v England, 1st Test, Trinidad, February 3, 1974
