Profile

He played in the Brisbane competition with Beenleigh-Logan in 1995-96 and 1996-97 but after commencing in the pre-season one day competition in 1997-98 he returned to play with Wests in Toowoomba, moving to the Ipswich competition for this season. He represented Queensland Primary Schools at the championships of 1987-88, in that season staged in Toowoomba and Ipswich. He represented South Queensland Under 19 from 1991-92 to 1993-94 and it was from there he gained selection in the Queensland Country team of 1993-94. He played for South Queensland in 1994-95 and retained his place in the Country team, gaining selection for Australia Country. Since returning to Toowoomba he has been a regular member of the South Queensland team and the Queensland Country team and has been a member of the Australia Country team in each of 1998-99 and 1999-00. He represented Queensland Colts in 1994-95 and 1995-96 but missed playing in the Sydney Gregory Cup. In 1995-96 he toured New Zealand with the Queensland Academy of Sport. In scoring 171 against Australian Capital Territory in 1999-00 he took his aggregate past one thousand runs in all National Country Championships matches, only the second Queenslander to achieve the feat (SJ Scuderi was the first) and is now the leading Queensland run scorer with an aggregate of 1264. At Canberra he was awarded both Batsman of the Series award and Player of the Series award. In August 2000 he played in three of the four pre-season matches played by Queensland against each of Australia and New Zealand and was selected to play for Country Origin in the match at Warwick but withdrew because of illness. He was educated at Harristown State School and Harristown High School. He works as a consultant in the sales department of a sporting goods retailer. (Warwick Torrens, December 2000)
