The Somerset Cricket Board XI tasted victory for the first time this season when they beat Gloucestershire Board XI at North Perrott on Sunday.

Batting first Somerset were dismissed for 212 in 49 overs with Wes Durston making a half-century, Kevin Sedgebeer 28 and Matt Gitsham 18. There were also a very useful 10 runs from 17-year-old Nick Gerrish from Wells, who was making his debut for the side.

In reply Gloucestershire were bowled out for 208, with Chris Hunkin taking three wickets and Matt Dimond and Andrew two wickets each.

Team manager Peter Robinson was delighted with the result and said afterwards: "Both sides made mistakes but we were victorious. We got wickets at the right time, and Chris Hunkin bowled a very tight last over."

The Somerset Board side play their remaining match in the competition on Sunday when they travel to Swindon to take on Wiltshire.
