Nicky Boje has been given permission to fly back home to recuperate from the injury he sustained on his left leg during the NatWest Series. Boje underwent surgery after fracturing his fibula in the field during a day-night match against England at Edgbaston on July 8, and will be out of action for at least four months.

"The doctor said I will be in plaster for six to eight weeks, followed by a month on crutches, after which I can start a slow programme of rehabilitation. He said I should make a full recoverey from the injury," said Boje. "Naturally I am disappointed, but the up side is that I will get to spend a lot of time with my wife and son." Boje will leave for South Africa later today.

Boje stated that missing out on the cricket wasn't his only regret; the injury meant that he wouldn't be able to pursue his other sporting passion, golf. "I'm a bit sorry about that as I ordered new clubs and they arrive next week, I was looking forward to playing with them over the next few months."

If the rehabilitation goes according to schedule, Boje should be ready for cricket by December.
