In the June issue of Wisden Cricket Monthly

Exclusive interview with Andy Caddick

  • On Darren Gough: "I have all faith in the guy, he's tried his bollocks off to get back there but it's going to take the long road. I think it's going to be 12 months before you really see whether his knee is going to hold up to the rigours of playing. We had some good times. I'm the senior player [in the partnership], the senior man, the elder who sits there who oversees everything and is a bit more sensible."

  • On the British: "The British aren't tolerant at all. The British just want to see people fall on their face. I do get the feeling in this country that people like to see people suffer."

  • On sledging: "I give as good as I get. But I don't get that abusive, I don't get to the Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne abusive level."

  • On Australians: "Aussies will call you a traitor, they'll do anything to piss you off. Australians are just thick as shit."

  • On the new fast bowlers like James Anderson and Steve Harmison: "They've got a lot to learn. They've got a hell of a lot to learn."

    Interview with Heath Streak
"To use a sporting stage to make political statements is a little bit unfair."

Scyld Berry on the Professional Cricketers' Association
"In 2001 the PCA recorded a loss of £6,714 but in 2002 this loss rose to £99,014, the worst in its five-year history to date."

    Angus Fraser on Phil Tufnell
"With Tufnell around it was impossible to predict what would happen next. One day he would be irrepressible ... The next day he would be unapproachable, uninterested and, to an extent, uncontrollable ... His retirement to appear on I'm a Celebrity was fitting because a celebrity is what he wants to be. In cricket he lost the attention he craves ... but I would not dare say The Cat has played his last game of first-class cricket."

Australian coach John Buchanan on how his side can improve
"We can take the game to a new level by rethinking all our technical, physical, tactical and mental skills."

Plus Mike Selvey on the 2003 Wisden Almanack "I've long had a problem with the manner in which Wisden overrates its importance in the cricketing firmament"; Steve James's new county diary; Sir Bobby Robson on his love of cricket; Mark Ramprakash on captaincy
