Sri Lanka Cricket
November 6, 2003
Further to the current political situation of the country and the declaration of "Emergency" there has been a lot of "Media Build Up" with regard to the England tour of Sri Lanka.
As you are aware, Sri Lanka was under a state of emergency for most of the past 20 years and due to the political decision by Her Excellency, the President, further doubt has been cast upon the impending tour.
However, the President's Office and the Government of Sri Lanka has assured us that there will be no hindrance or security threat to the safety of the players or spectators during the England tour.
Mr David Morgan, the chairman of the ECB, has been in contact with Mr Thilanga Sumaithipala, the president of Sri Lanka Cricket, and confirmed that the tour goes on as scheduled.
