Gilbert Enoka, New Zealand Cricket's sports psychologist, is set to join the New Zealand squad in Hyderabad. Stephen Fleming confirmed that Enoka would join them primarily to discuss the upcoming tour of Pakistan, but would also help the team out in the current tri-series.
New Zealand suffered their sixth consecutive loss to Australia yesterday at Guwahati and need to now beat India at Hyderabad to qualify for the final in Kolkata on November 18. Fleming conceded, "It's a key time for him to come over, different players will approach it in different ways, but certainly if you're struggling mentally he's the one to talk to."
Fleming, visibly disappointed after the loss, said that it wasn't crisis point yet but the problems needed to be addressed. He said: "We're not far away, but far enough to be frustrated. You can talk about it and identify it, but it's all about the pressure. There were some run-outs and soft dismissals -- the errors that make us a good side. We can't quite click on."
