The future of this tour may be up in the air - it's hard to see the Australians staying in Zimbabwe if their Test series is stripped of full Test status by the ICC on Friday - but it was business as usual for the Aussie batsmen on the second and final day of their warm-up match against Zimbabwe A at the Academy ground in Harare. The Australians totalled 448, with Ricky Ponting top-scoring with 87, before the match was left drawn.
All the batsmen got their eye in, although Justin Langer added only five to his overnight 79 before chipping a catch. Ponting batted well, facing only 92 balls for his 87, and putting on exactly 100 with Damien Martyn, who went down in the scorebook as "retired out" when he didn't emerge from the pavilion after lunch, without informing the opposition that he was retiring.
Simon Katich took the opportunity to compile 48, before becoming one of four victims for the wickekeeper, Wisdom Siziba. There was time for Adam Gilchrist to collect 36, and Michael Kasprowicz 25, before the Australians were all out for 448 shortly before tea. The captains agreed not to prolong the agony, and the match was called off.
