Anya Shrubsole is set to make her England debut after being named in the 15-player squad for the West Indies, South Africa and India series this summer. Shrubsole, an allrounder who bowls medium-fast, is on Somerset's Academy and at 16 she is yet another young face in the squad.

There were also recalls for Ebony Rainford-Brent, in the squad as a batsman only for the first time, and the pace bowler Lynsey Askew. Of those who toured Australia and New Zealand in the winter, there was no place for Rosalie Birch, Charlotte Russell or Stephanie Davies, while Jane Smit had quit suddenly in the middle of the Australia leg. This leaves England with only one specialist spinner in Holly Colvin, although Charlotte Edwards' leg-spin is more than useful.

The squad - which has taken current form into careful account - includes six of the eight contracted players, with Birch and the uncapped Danielle Hazell missing out.

England's head coach Mark Lane said: "We have made a few changes to that squad bringing in the very exciting talent of Ebony Rainford-Brent and Anya as well as the ever-reliable Lynsey Askew."

"This squad is a really nice mixture of youth and experience," added Edwards, "and with everyone in the squad in good form we're all looking forward to this week's ODIs against the West Indies. We'll be building on the momentum of the winter and take that with us into these series.

"The West Indies are an unknown quantity to us, but we definitely won't underestimate them. South Africa and India will provide tough opponents later on in the summer, but we're prepared and excited for that challenge and know that both series' are key preparation for next year's World Cup in March and the inaugural women's World Twenty20 in England in June."

Birch, Davies and Hazell have all been named in the Academy squad which will play Ireland and England on August 2 and 3 respectively at Wellington College. A Twenty20 match is scheduled for August 4 against South Africa at Reading CC. This represents a fuller Academy programme than ever before with a view to further international opportunities in 2009.

Georgia Elwiss, who was named Most Improved Player at this year's Super 4s is also in the squad. Alexia Walker will captain the side - as Jenny Halstead is out for six weeks with ligament damage - which will be coached by Paul Shaw.
