Sri Lanka A 263 for 4 (Karunaratne 94, Rajapaksa 72) beat England Lions 258 for 9 (Buttler 119, Prasanna 3-32) by six wickets
Scorecard

Sri Lanka A battled their way back into the five-match series against England Lions with a six-wicket win in Kurunegala. Despite Jos Buttler's second century in three matches for the Lions, Sri Lanka completed their run chase with 15 balls to spare thanks in large part to a composed innings of 94 from No. 3 Dimuth Karunaratne.

Karunaratne, who made his ODI debut during Sri Lanka's tour of England last year, was involved in a century stand with Bhanuka Rajapaksa after the hosts had lost their first two wickets for just 22. The two youngsters combined to put on 132 in 23 overs, with Rajapaksa recording an almost run-a-ball 72. Karunaratne was denied a century when he was dismissed by Danny Briggs but by then Sri Lanka were comfortably placed to finish the job, with Thilina Kandamby sealing victory - and reaching his own half-century - with a six.

The Lions' innings had been based around another significant contribution from Buttler, whose first limited-overs hundred brought England victory in Dambulla last week. The Somerset man was on the losing side this time, however, as the rest of England's batsmen failed to make the most of their starts. Jonny Bairstow's 31 was the next-best score as England's momentum, particularly in the closing overs, was repeatedly checked by the tumble of wickets.

i saw kushan janith and dinesh chandimal in 2008, i really impressed with those two guys and i knew both gonna play for sl one day, however Kushal Janith still a underrated player while chandimal became so popular,

I think Banuka is a talent. I am closely following up his stats. what I can say is that, he is not giving enough time for him self to get in. I can understand his game, he wants to be attacking player, but sometime its important to see how wicket behaves and also how bowlers bowling. if you check Chandimal, he is very cleaver in that regard. that s why he is very consistent. hopefully he will be consistent on his run making very soon. I am big fan of this guy and wish he can grab a place in ODI team sooner than later.

@Lalindra De Silva I'm afraid you are wrong to say that Rajapaksha has a better career than Chandimal. It's the other way. Dinesh Chandimal had the best 1st class career in Sri Lanka. Evidence are available in "player profiles" at in this same web site. Please look upon the facts and data available before you say something.

Nice to see England send JB a couple of places up the order. Surely he should be given a go in the senior OD side and at 4 or 5 rather than 6 ,7 or 8?

when is MR ASHANTHA DE MEL GOING TO SELECT THIS YOUNG ROYALIST, HE HIM SELF BEING A ROYALIST!!!! IS IT WHEN HE LOSSES FORM!!!!! WHAT MORE HAS TO THIS TALENTED BATSMAN TO DO, TO BE SELECTED..........IF HE WAS IN BANGLADESH HE WOULD BE OPENING THE INNINGS BY NOW. he's record in 1st class and A TEAM MATCHES SPEAKS FOR HIM SELF, A WAY BETTER RECORD THAN DINESH CHANDIMAL AND LAHIRU THIRIMANNE, A BATSMAN LIKE JAYASURIYA!!!!!!!! WHAT IS THE THINK TANK OF SRI LANKA DOING??? WAITING TO SOME ONE TO FAIL OR UNLEASH IN T20 WC IN SRI LANKA.THAT'S BULL.... THERE'S NO BETTER CHANCE TO BLITZ THE KANGAROO'S IN THEIR OWN HOME THAN PLAYING THIS YOUNGSTER, REMEMBER HOW LASITH MALINGA WAS PICKED,WHEN ATHAPATTU WAS CAPTAIN ,SAW HIM IN PRACTICE ,THE CURRENT CAPTAIN THEN,WENT AND SAID YOUNG BROTHER YOU ARE FLYING TO AUSTRALIA THE NEXT DAY, AND DIDN'T HE PERFORM WITH 5 WICKETS IN THE 1 ST INNINGS. AND LOOK NOW WHERE LASITH MALINGA IS........ A POINT TO PONDER TO THE SELECTORS...

Very nice teamwork..! Pleased to see Dumith & Bhanuka coming to form. Highly impressed at Kushal Janith's Wicket-keeping. Prasanna too is getting in. Keep it up. Best of luck for the rest of the Series.
