SA rout Ireland for 53 to reach final

South Africa women booked a berth in the finals of the tri-series by routing Ireland women for 53, and chasing it with ease with eight wickets in hand

South Africa Women 54 for 2 (Chetty 24) beat Ireland Women 53 (Van Niekerk 3-8, Ismail 2-5, Tryon 2-10) by eight wickets
Scorecard
South Africa women reached the finals of the tri-series by routing Ireland women for 53, and chasing it with ease. Ireland have lost three of their four matches, with the fourth being abandoned.
South Africa's decision to field paid off as they dismissed Ireland's top six for 15 runs. After Ireland lost the first two wickets for 13, Chloe Tryon and Dane van Niekerk shared the next four wickets to reduce Ireland to 17 for 6. Melissa Scott-Hayward and Mary Waldron halted the collapse for a bit, surviving for the next nine overs. But Marizanne Kapp took two quick wickets to leave them at 38 for 8. The last two batsmen also resisted for a bit before Scott-Hayward became the last wicket to fall, for 71-ball 20.
Van Niekerk finished with 3 for 8 from 5.3 overs and Tryon, Kapp and Shabnim Ismail took two each.
South Africa openers Lizelle Lee and Trisha Chetty started slow in their chase before both fell in quick succession in consecutive overs for 15 and 24 respectively. Mignon du Preez and Kapp took them home in the 14th over for their first win of the series.
Du Preez was pleased with the efforts of her team, especially in light of the fact of the way they were trounced by Pakistan in their previous match."We learned a lot from our game against Pakistan," du Preez said. "The bowlers did extremely well playing on a different track. Keeping them under 55 was excellent work by them. We still have a bit of work to do when it comes to chasing the score, we unfortunately lost a couple of wickets but that is still something that can be addressed before we play Pakistan again."
Table-toppers Pakistan and South Africa will play the last league game on Wednesday before the series final on Friday.
