Media Release - Gilchrist on standby to fly to Sri Lanka
Western Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist has been placed on standby to join the FoxTel Australian Cricket Tour of Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
Gilchrist has been placed on call to fly out after Ian Healy sustained a strained right thigh muscle in training on Tuesday.
He will fly out to Sri Lanka on Wednesday afternoon if Healy is ruled unfit following a further assessment on his injury on Wednesday morning.
Gilchrist linked up with the Australia tour of West Indies in April in time for the final Test of the series in Antigua following a fitness doubt over Healy, but did not play in the match.
He recently captained Australia A during their tour of Los Angeles, where they defeated India A 4-1 in a five-match one-day series.
