Sunder Rajan passes away

Sunder Rajan, former sports editor of The Times of India, passed away in Mumbai on Sunday. He was 63 and had been ailing for some time. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

Starting his journalistic career with the Madras eveninger The Mail, Sunder Rajan moved over to the Times in 1959 and retired in 1998 after a long career of almost 40 years. He rose to become sports editor in the mid 80s and covered many important events in India and abroad. He specialised in cricket and table tennis. Known for his simple, lucid style of reporting, Sunder Rajan also wrote regular weekly columns for various magazines and of late he had been contributing articles to cricket websites. Sunder Rajan was also president of the Sports Journalists Association of Mumbai.
