4th Match, Sri Lanka v Pakistan, Statistical Highlights

  • It was the 1608th ODI in cricket history.

  • It was Pakistan's 475th and Sri Lanka's 327th match in ODIs.

  • It was the 83rd meeting between these two sides. The record now reads : Pakistan 51, Sri Lanka 29 , tied 1, abandoned 2.

  • It was the 14th meeting between these sides on Sri Lankan soil. The record now reads : Sri Lanka 6, Pakistan 7, abandoned 1.

  • Inzamam-ul-Haq became Pakistan's leading run scorer in One-Day Internationals when his score reached 12. Inzamam, playing his 228th match, surpassed current coach Javed Miandad's tally of 7381 runs.

  • Azhar Mahmood, on 21, completed his 1000 runs in ODIs. He was playing his 91st match and 69th innings. Mahmood became 19th Pakistani and 139th batsman in the world to do so.

  • The seventh wicket unbroken stand of 58 runs between Azhar Mahmood and Abdur Razzaq is Pakistan's best for this wicket against Sri Lanka on Sri Lankan soil. This obliterates the previous record stand of 42 between Manzoor Elahi and Abdul Qadir at Colombo SSC on 06-04-1986.

  • Mahela Jayawerdene, on 48, completed his 1000 runs in ODIs. He was playing his 49th match and 46th innings. He became 12th Sri Lankan and 140th batsman overall to do so.

  • Sri Lanka's total is its highest against Pakistan on home soil . This obliterates the previous highest of 239 at Colombo SSC on 14-07-1997. Incidentally Sri Lanka's previous highest on home soil against Pakistan batting second was 218 at Colombo SSC on 07-08- 1994.

  • Sanath Jayasuriya won his 21st Man of the Match awardhis eighth against Pakistan. Jayasuriya now holds the record of winning most awards against Pakistan alongwith West Indian Brian Lara and India's Saurav Ganguly.

  • Jayasuriya is now just one short of equalling Desmond Haynes' tally of winning nine MoM awards against Australiamost by a player against any country. The following table lists the players with MoM awards against a particular country :
