United Carlton frustrated Spartan, securing first innings points and gaining valuable batting practice as their third round fixture ended yesterday.
Carlton took advantage of excellent conditions and added two more half centuries to the effort of Dale Richards (74) the previous day.
Resuming on 137 for three, with a further 61 needed for first innings lead, Carlton moved within two of Spartan's score before Vonrick Nurse fell leg-before to Gregory Robinson for 52.
Jason King (30), was caught by Corey Yearwood off left-arm spinner Sulieman Benn shortly after Carlton took the lead but Wilkinson, with the help of a chance to Yearwood off Aaron Barker when six, helped himself to an unbeaten 56. He batted 135 minutes, faced 120 balls, and struck nine fours.
Orion Lewis made 30 out of a partnership of 74 with Wilkinson.
