Anguillian star cricketers Alex Adams and Omari Banks have been named
to a 19-man squad, which is to begin training for the upcoming 2000
Red Stripe Bowl. The Leewards, who are hoping to regain some of that
prolific form of last year as they battled their way to the finals of
both the Busta Cup and the Red Stripe Bowl only to be defeated by the
mighty Jamaican side in both matches, will be involved in a mini-camp
in St. Kitts from the 30th of September to the 8th of October.
Both Adams and Banks have had brilliantly successful years thus far as
they both have scored prolifically and bowled with success. Adams, in
particular, during the Leeward Islands Tournament and Banks both in
England and Guyana with Leicestershire C.C.C. and the Leeward Islands
under 19 Team respectively, where he went on to be selected for the
West Indies Under 19 Team.
West Indies young guns, Sylvester Joseph and Kerry Jeremy have not
been included in the Leewards squad, as they will be representing the
West Indies in the upcoming one-day Tournament to be held in Nairobi,
Kenya.
Full squad reads:- Stuart Williams, Carl Tuckett, Keith
Arthurton, Runako Morton, John Maynard, (Nevis) Alex Adams, Omari
Banks (Anguilla), Ridley Jacobs, Goldwyn Prince, Anthony Lake, Wilden
Cornwall, Dave Joseph, Ricky Christopher (Antigua), Colin Cannonier,
Junie Mitchum, Jason Saddler, Sheldon Jeffers (St. Kitts), Devon
Williams and Tyrone Greenaway (Montserrat). Please note that a captain
will not be selected until the Leeward Islands Board Meeting on the
30th of September.
