Bowling to Indian batsmen in India is a tough task, says Warne

Shane Warne came good in the second warm up game leading up to the first Test match with a seven wicket haul in the second innings against Ranji trophy champions Mumbai at the CCI on Saturday.

Speaking at a press conference after the match, the Australian leg spinner said that it was a very good game and it was probably what the Australian team needed before the Test. However, he agreed that Mumbai had outplayed them. "If you add Tendulkar and Agarkar to this team, they make a very good side," he added.

During the match Warne bagged his best first class figures in India. But he was quick to add that it was not a kind of warning to the Indian team before the Test. He said that it was a practice game and he did experiment a lot. He wanted to continue to experiment the various options available to the spinners on Indian wickets.

Warne made his intentions clear that he was looking forward to the Test match with keen interest. He agreed with the view that playing the Indian team in India was the toughest task in the game. Warne also said that bowling to Indian batsmen in India was a hard task and he added "when the Indians go after you, they really go after you with big sixes and fours all over the place."

Warne toured India in 1998 and was not effective on the pitches. He agreed that he did have a bad tour on the previous occasion. But he added that he had learned more tricks now and has worked out on how to bowl effectively on Indian wickets. The more you get used to the conditions the better you will perform in them, he remarked.
