'India strong favourites for title'

Sanjay Manjrekar, speaking to Siddhartha Talya, says Pakistan made far too many mistakes, and India seem strong contenders for the title (07:43)

Mr Manjrekar may I recall your prediction of the Semi Finalists before the WC started : Australia, England, South Africa and India. Well 3 of your teams didn't make it to the Semi Finals! That gives you a success rate of just 25%. If I apply the same success rate to the finals, it means India 25% and SL 75%. So it's really Sri Lanka that should be favorites according to the Manjrekar Law!!!

I agree with Taylor_aba...to say that India is 'far superior' is crazy, and bordering on disrespectful.

India's batting is slightly stronger, but Sri lanka's bowling is far stronger than india's. On paper I would have to say Sri lanka are the more balanced side, but that won't matter when its finals day. Its a difficult one to call.

Good report SM. Less pressure on SL, more I'll relax and enjoy the cricket. Glad to be in the finals.

Mr Manjrekar, How do you access India as a far superior overall team than SL. Yes, in batting-wise, India is superior, however, their bowling is really thin. In fact, SL's bowling is far far superior than that of India. Thus, the weaknesses and strengths of each team cancel out. In the end, two teams are have similar overall quality. As far as this tournament's trend is concerned, better bowling teams have done well, and hence, SL is slightly ahead of India.
