Why is that everyone thinks that Lancashire winning the Championship shows that county cricket is at a low ebb?, they can hardly be blamed for the oppositions performance. Besides surely they should be credited for beating those more expensive teams. The argument that it is down to result pitches on club grounds at Liverpool, Blackpool and Southport is undermined by the fact that they won 5 matches at home and 5 away. They won because they had batsmen who scored just enough runs when they were needed, not big showy meaningless 100s in dead games. They have a very good bowling attack led by Chapple and Hogg who has finally matured. Add to that Keedy, only Swann and possibly Panesar are better and Kerrigan, who was the match winner in half the games he played. Finnally they were a true team, no stars, no big overseas players. Oh and for once they did not lose more time to rain than everybody else! Just give them the credit they deserve.
