Sri Lankan batting has been a problem for many years. Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardena have been pulling SrI lankan batting through since around 2003. But unfortunately Sri Lankan selectors haven't been able to find a solution for this problem yet although they have tried out some young players. And also, players who were given chances, didn't live up to the standard required for international cricket. If you look for a player suitable for Sri Lankan team in domestic cricket in Sri Lanka, you won't be able to find a good batman. Most of them play well in domestic matches against domestic teams but when face international teams they look terrible. The Major reason for this issue is that standard of school cricket in Sri Lanka has significantly gone down. because school cricket had been the breeding ground of Sri Lankan cricket. As a result of poor administration of Sri Lankan Cricket board and relevant authorities, school cricket is in a awful situation.
