Nice discussion, esp regarding the effect of good wicketkeeping on the bowlers. If Lyon had someone else behind the stumps other than Wade how many more wickets would he have taken? Dhoni would have been out a lot sooner, most likely. Fair enough Wade is a Batsman/wicketkeeper but if he's going to keep his place based on that then he needs to bat. 100 runs from him might have been good enough for Aus, though still hard luck for Lyon, but he didn't provide that either. Thing about Keeper/batsman is that you always get a good performance behind the stumps no matter what. I agree with Kimber, because its hard to measure just how valuable that is we don't value it nearly enough.

i dont now who edward jones is but the indians are susceptible to teh fast bouncer

Australia need to call up Edward Jones. His steepling bounce will get the Indian batsmen hopping, and his sideways movement through the air will test out their techniques

great points about wicketkeeping. Wade dropped a lot of catches of Lyon, not to mention some missed stumpings. A lot of the criticisms directed at Lyon were unjustifiable.

u have talked about so many things in this video...wicketkeeping...chris hartley seems ok however south africa's keeper is very good with fast bowlers and he is also one of teh teams best batsmen...they dont depend on spin that much..most keepers including pakistans are not very good with spinners for spinners against pakistan both okeefe and doherty bowled extremely for Fawad ahmed i hav'nt heard of him in pakistan as a bowler or as a political or religious dissident...if anybody is just half good they get thrust into teh pakistan team...his talk about being harassed or treated badly is just for for wade i think he has not proved as good a batsmen as australia had hoped

in india playing four seamers is a liability...two fast bowlers and two or three fact what u see from teh first test play henriques as a batsmen and add a spinning alrounder although maxwell does not spin at all..lyons alone just does not work and indian players like tendulkar play left arm spin very badly...and nobody in recent times has allowed tendulkar to bat...Starc should probably bowl differently...with henriques as a batsman he is enough to partner pattinson...i dont think he should be injured if he balls three over spells...or play pattinson , johnston, moises, two spinners and since maxwell bats as well as henriques u can than have a longer batting lineup...about wades everyone used to say he is teh best when haddin was failing..i would open with watson and warner and cowans as a stabilizer at number 3
