There was an interesting point made during the broadcast. Since Indian players cannot play in other cricket leagues does it make sense for Indian players to form a union in order to have their voices at the table (assuming they don't want to be limited to just the IPL). I remember Dravid talking about this in 2006 but not sure there has been no movement since. The west indies board has had major issues with their player union but Australia also has a players union which seems to have a constructive relationship with the board.

There are positives and negatives to having player unions, but since the BCCI is not at all transparent, I think that a powerful players union will be a good balance to BCCI's power in Indian cricket.
