Five years too long. His career was a bit like The Simpsons, was better back in the day but they can still milk it so they keep going.

You can take Sachin out of Cricket but you cannot take Cricket out of Sachin!! He may not return to bat at #4 for India, but he will be back very soon. The Sachin.. Sachin chant will remain as long as this game is played in this country.

Great man Sachin! However he should have retired in 2011 after the World Cup. What has the last two years acheived.

Humility is his middle name , recognition of his strengths , truthfullness to his sport and professions , sincerity and dedication to the preparation - all this makes him what he is today , in the eyes of his fans - the GOD of cricket. An epitaph that rests best on his shoulders....he may not be in India colors anymore....but he will remain the inspirational to all INdians , whether he has played or followed cricket. A true sportsman...salute you sir...for giving us such entertainment and enjoyment....we will live in those memories till someone else comes along.....to make an attempt at filling you shoes. #ThankYouSachin
