Stourbridge-born Matt Pardoe, a left-handed middle-order batsman, developed through the Worcestershire youth teams and won his county debut at the start of 2011. While impressively solid, he also looked limited and struggled to register telling contributions.
2011 brought him 507 runs at 19.50 in the Championship and 2012 407 runs at 20.35. During the winter he went to Zimbabwe and played three matches for Southern Rocks, the highlight being an innings of 90.
A maiden first-class century followed against Glamorgan in 2013 but, with the emergence of young players such as Tom Fell and Tom Kohler-Cadmore, and not great talent for the limited-overs formats, Pardoe was released at the end of 2014.
