England batsman Jonathan Trott disappointed on his return to county action as he was run out for one in Warwickshire's rain-wrecked Friends Life t20 match against Yorkshire at Edgbaston.

Trott, who has been included in England's squad for the forthcoming one-day series against Sri Lanka, managed just a single off Adil Rashid's first ball of the match but was then involved in a mix-up with Neil Carter.

Carter tucked Rashid's second ball to Andrew Gale at square leg, Trott set off for an unlikely single and was unable to regain his ground when he realised that Carter had no intention of running.

Trott's cheap dismissal continued his disappointing county form this season - just 94 runs in six innings for Warwickshire in all cricket - but that has not affected his form in Test cricket, where he has scored more than 1,300 runs in 13 months.

There was disappointment for Warwickshire too after rain halted the match after only 18 overs to leave them still seeking their first home win in the competition this season. The match appeared evenly poised when umpires Jeff Evans and Steve O'Shaughnessy, who had kept the players on in steady rain, finally had to admit defeat. The match was abandoned 90 minutes later.

Conditions were difficult for fielders and bowlers and were far from ideal for Yorkshire's England seamer Tim Bresnan, who made his comeback after six weeks out with a recurrence of the calf injury he sustained in the World Cup.

Bresnan struck Carter on the helmet with his first ball but was hooked for a six by the left-hander in his second. Bresnan's first two overs went for 19 runs and he was brought back for a third, in deteriorating conditions, later in the innings.

Carter added 52 for the second wicket with William Porterfield before he was bowled middle stump driving at off spinner Azeem Rafiq who then held a superbly judged catch at deep square to snare Porterfield.

Darren Maddy was bowled giving himself room against Ajmal Shahzad and Rikki Clarke was bowled pushing forward to Richard Pyrah, but Warwickshire were sustained by captain Jim Troughton, whose 30-ball 49 not out was his best in the competition this season.
