Fielding, bowling and batting, the Delhi Daredevils outclassed the Rajasthan Royals. They take their first fixture with utmost ease in front of a loyal home crowd. They lost the toss but bowled clinically to keep Rajasthan to 129 before a 112-run stand between Gambhir and Dhawan, the local lads, sealed victory.

Gambhir, unbeaten on 58 from 46 balls, credits the bowlers and is pleased about the turn out at the Kotla under lights. He feels Delhi are gelling really well as they are a mixture of youth and experience. Hopes to go on from this win and believes it was a "fantastic" evening.

Well folks, thats all we have for you tonight. Again, thanks for tuning in to Cricinfo. Come back and see us tomorrow for two more IPL matches, the first between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Deccan Chargers (16:00 local, 10:30 GMT) and then the Mumbai Indians and the Bangalore Royal Challengers (20:00 local, 14:30 GMT).

Sriram Veera will bring you the commentary for the first game and myself, Jamie Alter, will cover game two. Until then, on behalf of Sajan and the rest of us at Cricinfo, cheers!

They're coasting towards victory. Rajasthan look like Bangalore. Just don't have the feel of a Twenty20 side.
