William Case was quite a good cricketer, although he did not obtain his blue at Oxford, like his father and brother. He was, however, a member of the Winchester eleven in 1890 and 1891, when he scored 44 runs in his three innings against Eton. He was described as : " A painstaking, careful bat . . . a safe catch and good field ; can bowl slow left-hand, and was a useful change bowler." Subsequently he played for the Harlequins and Oxfordshire.
