Frederick Albert Gross, who died in Birmingham on March 11, aged 72, was a
leg-spin bowler who played as an amateur for Hampshire from 1924 to 1929 and for Warwickshire in one match in 1934, in which he caught and bowled Len Hutton in his first Championship innings for Yorkshire. During the 1930s and 1940s he played for Mitchells & Butlers in the Birmingham League.
