Emile McMaster holds a unique place in cricket history in that his only first-class appearance came in a match later designated a Test, in South Africa in 1888-89. He batted at No. 9 and made a duck and was not called on to bowl. His entire first-class career lasted less than two days.
After the tragedy of Phillip Hughes' death, this match showed that cricket and life will continue to go on. This time Test cricket dug in and got through to tea.
After a long time we have seen an Indian team and captain enjoy the challenge of trying to overcome stronger opposition in an overseas Test
