Full name Redvers Dundonald Dyal
Born 1901
Died May 7, 1997 (aged 96 years days)
King Dyal was a lovable exhibitionist and one of the sights of Barbados. He attended every major match at Kennington Oval for four decades: a tall, slim, pipe-smoking figure wearing a brightly-coloured suit, which he would change at each interval before making a re-entrance that would often attract more attention than the cricket. He claimed never to have worked in his life. He died in poverty and was buried at sea; former West Indies Cricket Board president Peter Short delivered a eulogy.
