Sir William Gage, 7th Baronet KB was a member of parliament for Seaford in Sussex. A close friend of Charles Lennox, the 2nd Duke of Richmond, the pair did much to promote cricket in the first half of the 18th century. His estate, in Firle, Sussex, was one of the game's early homes.
