Aubrey Roy Lilley, who was been killed in a flying accident in South Africa, had been playing Currie Cup cricket since 1970-71, initially with Natal and in his final season with Transvaal. He bowled left-arm seam, and took 132 wickets, average 24.15, in 47 matches. A tailend batsman, he averaged 14.28 with a highest score of 38. Born at Grahamstown on August 26, 1950, Lilley was 28 years old at his death.
