Andrew Downton, the left-arm fast bowler, missed the 2005-06 season after recovering from surgery for a knee problem suffered the previous summer. He is stuck on 99 first-class victims for Tasmania after making his debut with his adopted team in 1999-2000. Born and raised in Sydney, he began his first-class career with an Australian Institute of Sport tour of Zimbabwe in 1998-99, and rocked his former state with 6 for 56 in the second innings of his debut Pura Cup match. He followed that with a five-wicket haul against India but has struggled to replicate his brilliant opening in the remainder of his career.
