Hazel Mary Sanders, who died in Kent on December 29, 1995 at the age of 69, played 12 women's Test matches for England between 1948 and 1958, all against Australia and New Zealand, in which she took a remarkable 15 catches close to the wicket. A scientist and dedicated musician, she played county cricket with distinction for Surrey.
