Profile

Max Sorensen moved to Ireland from South Africa to become an important part of Ireland's seam attack as they adjusted to life without Trent Johnston and Boyd Rankin. He was surprisingly omitted from Ireland's 2015 World Cup squad despite having played in the side's last eight one day internationals. It was perhaps felt that he lacked the pace to trouble Test nations on Australian pitches. However, he earned a reprieve when Tim Murtagh pulled out of the tournament with injury. Sorensen is also a lusty lower-order hitter, and clubbed 24 not out from 17 balls against England on ODI debut.
