NatWest Series [Bangladesh in England] - 2nd ODI

England v Bangladesh

Bangladesh won by 5 runs

10.45 Cloudy day, greenish pitch, made for Jimmy Anderson you'd think...

10.30am Just to mention if you're in Europe (but outside the UK) you can watch the entire game live on our ESPN Player and while we're all here I should point you to our Facebook page, which you can visit wherever you are the world.

10.15am England have won the toss and will field. Two changes in their side, James Tredwell and Tim Bresnan have been 'rotated' with Jonathan Trott and Ajmal Shahzad coming into the team.

There are two enforced changes in the Bangladesh side, with Raqibul and Mushfiqur picking up injuries in the first game - Ashraful returns to the side with Jahurul Islam, to bolster the batting. Alongside the injuries, there is one more change with Rubel Hossain replacing Faisal Hossain.

10.00am Hello, good morning and welcome to the 2nd ODI between England and Bangladesh at Bristol. I'm Sahil Dutta, and I'll soon by joined by Liam Brickhill to bring you all the ball-by-ball action. Andrew McGlashan is at the Bristol ground and will be providing bulletins throughout the day.

Bangladesh, as ever it seems, showed promise in the 1st game, without ever really threatening to take the game to England, but they have a strong batting line-up and with Tamim, anything is possible today.

England, you'd think, would love to have him in their side. Gnasher has a preview of today's game so do check that out.

0.4

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, no run, and there was the big cut shot, but it came off the toe end of the bat and went to point

0.5

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, no run, good delivery here, back of a length, Tamim rocks on to the bat foot and defends

0.6

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, no run, cracking stuff here, this leapt from a good length, Tamim judged a very good leave, and Kieswetter took an excellent take

Tamim Iqbal    4* (6b 1x4)      JM Anderson    1-0-4-0

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, no run, flash and a miss outside off stump, Anderson threw it up full and invited a drive, Tamim obliged but missed

2.2

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, FOUR, lovely shot, he's a difficult man to bowl to Tamim, he's very strong off his legs and demon against any width, this was just a fraction leg-sided and he whipped it in front of midwicket for four

2.3

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, no run, just a touch of width here, Tamim looking for a cut shot, but it's too close for the shot

2.4

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, no run, this time on it's on a length and line and defended

3.1

Shahzad to Tamim Iqbal, no run, good ball from Shahzad, that's pretty much the only place to bowl to him, on a length, angling in at off stump from round the wicket, Tamim can only defend

3.2

Shahzad to Tamim Iqbal, no run, good stuff from Shahzad, beats Tamim outside off, round the wicket angle, pitching just outside off and holding it's line, Tamim drives but misses

3.3

Shahzad to Tamim Iqbal, no run, beaten again, though this time it was lack of bounce that defeated him, we've seen a few fly through but this kept a bit low outside off as Tamim missed a defensive block

Tamim not happy here, he thinks Yardy is moving too into his eye-line at mid on while the bowler is running up.

3.4

Shahzad to Tamim Iqbal, no run, good cricket here, full and straight and Tamim defends

3.5

Shahzad to Tamim Iqbal, 2 runs, lovely shot and even better fielding! Tamim wheeled a pull shot down towards the fine-leg boundary, Luke Wright ran, ran and slid a long way to pull off an excellent one-handed save on the boundary edge

4.6

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, no run, tight channel outside off stump and left alone

Cricinfo's Dileep Premachandran has been following the FIFA World Cup closely and he reports India might be switching from football to cricket. "An estimated 20 million people watched the World Cup opener between South Africa and Mexico, more than had tuned in for the IPL's opening game in March" … read his views here

5.1

Shahzad to Tamim Iqbal, OUT, gone! Huge wicket that! Tamim falls. What a shame for the crowd today. It was outside off, just offering to move away from the left hander again and Tamim aimed a drive but could only feather an edge, Kieswetter took a tumbling catch, diving low to his left

Tamim Iqbal c †Kieswetter b Shahzad 18 (17m 23b 3x4 0x6) SR: 78.26

5.2

Shahzad to Junaid Siddique, no run, good ball first up to the new batsman, forces him into a hurried defence

5.6

Shahzad to Junaid Siddique, no run, good end to a good, wicket-taking over, Siddique hurries into a defence. Shahzad gets warm applause for his successful over

End of over 6 (2 runs) Bangladesh 21/1 (RR: 3.50)
Junaid Siddique    0* (4b)      A Shahzad    3-0-6-1
Imrul Kayes    2* (9b)      JM Anderson    3-0-14-0

6.1

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, no run, crunching back-foot drive to a length ball outside off, but it finds the cover fielder

6.2

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, FOUR, oh dear, this is far too friendly from Anderson, floated up full outside off and is crashed through the covers for four

6.3

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, no run, much better ball this time, back on a length, touch of away movement and beats Kayes outside off

6.4

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, no run, Anderson this time fires it in on a length and it's blocked

6.5

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, 1 wide, this won't improve Anderson's mood, he banged it in a touch short, Kayes ducks and it's wided

6.5

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, FOUR, missed by Shahzad I would say dropped, but he didn't even get a hand to it! Strange shot, open-faced guide towards short third man, Shahzad was in a odd position, neither catching nor saving runs and it went in the air straight through him! Poor old Jimmy

6.6

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, this time it's casually worked away for a single

End of over 7 (10 runs) Bangladesh 31/1 (RR: 4.42)
Imrul Kayes    11* (15b 2x4)      JM Anderson    4-0-24-0
Junaid Siddique    0* (4b)      A Shahzad    3-0-6-1

7.1

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, no run, Shahzad gets a chance to make up for his miss in this over and starts well enough, full and straight and defended

7.2

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, 1 wide, shoved down the leg side and Shahzad will have to bowl this again

7.2

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, no run, back on to a good line and Kayes rocks forward to defend

7.3

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, 1 wide, poor delivery this, was lucky it was only a wide, short and shoved down leg, the attempted pull shot was missed

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, worked from a full length and clipped in to the midwicket region for a single

7.4

Shahzad to Junaid Siddique, no run, nothing on offer here, tight line and good length and defended

7.5

Shahzad to Junaid Siddique, no run, once again it's a good line, Shahzad probing this off-stump channel very well, defended

7.6

Shahzad to Junaid Siddique, no run, he's looked very good so far Shahzad, aside from the odd delivery he's maintained a tight length and line

End of over 8 (3 runs) Bangladesh 34/1 (RR: 4.25)
Junaid Siddique    0* (7b)      A Shahzad    4-0-9-1
Imrul Kayes    12* (18b 2x4)      JM Anderson    4-0-24-0

Change of bowling - it's England's strike bowler - Stuart Broad. In these conditions he should be a handful.

8.1

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, starts tidily, just outside off stump on a fullish length and defended

8.2

Broad to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, nicely done by Kayes, dabbed off the hip for a swift single

8.3

Broad to Junaid Siddique, no run, Siddique is still stuck on zero, defending this gently into the covers

8.4

Broad to Junaid Siddique, 1 run, and he's away now, upper-cutting a shortish ball to third man for a single

This is a good point by Keshava Guha "Tamim's (relative) struggles recently in ODIs are reminiscent of Sehwag from 2005-07: almost as if he feels that he needs to hit a continuous stream of boundaries, whereas in Tests he can play in a more relaxed fashion."

8.5

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, Kayes looks organised, but not threatening, needs to find a way to rotate singles, instead it's blocked with hard hands into the covers

8.6

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, once again very firmly defended off the back foot

End of over 9 (2 runs) Bangladesh 36/1 (RR: 4.00)
Imrul Kayes    13* (22b 2x4)      SCJ Broad    1-0-2-0
Junaid Siddique    1* (9b)      A Shahzad    4-0-9-1

9.1

Shahzad to Junaid Siddique, 2 runs, good shot here, couple of ooohs from the England fielders but it was well out of reach of the diving midwicket fielder, chipped into the leg side for a couple

9.2

Shahzad to Junaid Siddique, FOUR, Shahzad may have asked for this but Siddique played it nicely, it was a touch overpitched outside off and Siddique creamed a straight drive wide of mid off four for

There's a problem for Ian Bell, who was the fielder at midwicket who dived to try and reach the chip shot a couple of balls ago, looks like he landed awkwardly and twisted his ankle

9.3

Shahzad to Junaid Siddique, no run, back on to better length and defended quietly

9.4

Shahzad to Junaid Siddique, FOUR, lovely shot, this time Siddique went through with the leg-side clip, playing it firmly and finding the midwicket boundary

9.5

Shahzad to Junaid Siddique, FOUR, Shahzad switches back to over the wicket, to try and restrict the angle, but Siddique plays a lovely full-faced push that is timed superbly and races back past the bowler for four

9.6

Shahzad to Junaid Siddique, no run, this time it's full and straight and crashes into Siddique's pads, but it pitched outside leg so the appeal is pointless

End of over 10 (14 runs) Bangladesh 50/1 (RR: 5.00)
Junaid Siddique    15* (15b 3x4)      A Shahzad    5-0-23-1
Imrul Kayes    13* (22b 2x4)      SCJ Broad    1-0-2-0

That's the first Powerplay done with, Strauss dishes up captaincy cliche No. 29 and takes the Bowling Powerplay straight away.

10.1

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, Broad delivers it and it's, full, straight and defended

10.2

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, nothing on offer here either, just quietly defended

10.3

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, poor shot this, short and wide but Kayes aimed a tame pat to third man, it got high on the bat and he ended up steering it one-bounce to slip

10.4

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, banged in much shorter, Kayes aims a massive pull shot but it's well over his head

10.5

Broad to Imrul Kayes, FOUR, oh no! Shahzad misses again! Kayes jumped down the wicket and aimed a booming drive outside off, ended up slicing an outside edge high the air down to third man where Shahzad ran in, and watched it alarm as it sailed over his head, once bounce for four!

10.6

Broad to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, no alarm here, worked away for a single

End of over 11 (5 runs) Bangladesh 55/1 (RR: 5.00)
Imrul Kayes    18* (28b 3x4)      SCJ Broad    2-0-7-0
Junaid Siddique    15* (15b 3x4)      A Shahzad    5-0-23-1

Change here from Strauss - it's Luke Wright.

11.1

Wright to Imrul Kayes, 2 runs, he starts well enough, but a misfield allows an extra run, it was worked off the hip behind square on the leg side, routine single but a needless throw came it, cannoned off the stumps and went for a an extra

11.2

Wright to Imrul Kayes, no run, this time Kayes solidly defends

11.3

Wright to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, back of a length and on leg-stump, worked to midwicket for a single

11.4

Wright to Junaid Siddique, FOUR, lovely shot, wasn't a half-volley, Siddique just leant into a square-drive, raced away to the point boundary

11.5

Wright to Junaid Siddique, no run, having taken the boundary he is happy to defend

11.6

Wright to Junaid Siddique, 1 run, this time it's a touch leg-sided and worked away for one

End of over 12 (8 runs) Bangladesh 63/1 (RR: 5.25)
Junaid Siddique    20* (18b 4x4)      LJ Wright    1-0-8-0
Imrul Kayes    21* (31b 3x4)      SCJ Broad    2-0-7-0

12.1

Broad to Junaid Siddique, no run, Bangladesh will be very pleased with how they've gone after Tamim's fall, aside from a couple of alarms they've looked at east, here it's defended off the front foot

12.2

Broad to Junaid Siddique, no run, touch shorter, left alone outside off stump

12.3

Broad to Junaid Siddique, 1 run, Broad staying back of a length and it's worked calmly down to third man for a single

12.4

Broad to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, useful delivery, short and quick, fends it round the corner

12.5

Broad to Junaid Siddique, no run, good delivery here, Siddique took a peppering in the first game, and this is short and leaps at him outside off

12.6

Broad to Junaid Siddique, OUT, out this time! Looks unlucky for Siddique! It was short once more, down the leg side, Siddique tried to work it down to fine leg, but looked like he's missed it. Massive appeal is given, sounds like it got a faint glove on the way down. Strangle, but a good decision.

Junaid Siddique c †Kieswetter b Broad 21 (35m 23b 4x4 0x6) SR: 91.30

End of over 13 (2 runs) Bangladesh 65/2 (RR: 5.00)
     SCJ Broad    3-0-9-1
Imrul Kayes    22* (32b 3x4)      LJ Wright    1-0-8-0

13.1

Wright to Imrul Kayes, no run, Wright continues well enough, and it's defended

13.2

Wright to Imrul Kayes, no run, once more it's full and straight and defended

13.3

Wright to Imrul Kayes, 1 wide, Wright drifts too far down the leg side and will have to bowl this agin

13.3

Wright to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, worked into the leg side for a single

13.4

Wright to Jahurul Islam, no run, good ball this time, probing the off-stump channel and beating the batsman outside off

13.5

Wright to Jahurul Islam, no run, outside off here, far enough to allow a leave

Some bad news for England, Ian Bell has been taken to hospital for an x-ray after falling awkwardly and turning over his ankle.

13.6

Wright to Jahurul Islam, no run, similar ball to finish, outside off and left alone

End of over 14 (2 runs) Bangladesh 67/2 (RR: 4.78)
Jahurul Islam    0* (3b)      LJ Wright    2-0-10-0

14.1

Broad to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, Broad adjusts his line and length, going full outside off and is picked off for a single down to deep point

14.3

Broad to Jahurul Islam, 1 run, nicely bowled, Broad finding some good carry and Jahurul fends it down to square leg for one

14.4

Broad to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, this is a touch too far down the leg side and tickled round the corner for a single

Right, after some fearful hand swishing and waving and some annoyed looks by Andrew Strauss, England have set a field and it involves short leg catching under the helmet.

14.5

Broad to Jahurul Islam, no run, predictably it was short and Jahurul fends it away uncomfortably

14.6

Broad to Jahurul Islam, (no ball) 1 run, short once more but it's easily worked towards mid on. Also it was a no ball which means...Free hit

14.6

Broad to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, Kayes connects very well, firmly clubbing a short ball but straight to the deep square leg

End of over 15 (7 runs) Bangladesh 74/2 (RR: 4.93)
Imrul Kayes    26* (39b 3x4)      SCJ Broad    4-0-16-1

15.2

Wright to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, this time Kayes happily works into some space and collects a single

15.3

Wright to Jahurul Islam, no run, nicely bowled, full and straight and Jahurul has to defend

15.4

Wright to Jahurul Islam, no run, nothing on offer here for Jahurul, he can only defend

15.5

Wright to Jahurul Islam, no run, touch fuller from Wright, Jahurul tries to work it into the leg side but can't connect

15.6

Wright to Jahurul Islam, 2 runs, bit short, Jahurul gets into a pull shot quickly but Wright's skiddy pace means it's not quite timed perfectly. Still, useful couple there for Jahurul.

So, decent start for Bangladesh but they have a long way to go. Time for drinks

End of over 16 (3 runs) Bangladesh 77/2 (RR: 4.81)
Jahurul Islam    4* (10b)      LJ Wright    3-0-13-0
Imrul Kayes    27* (41b 3x4)      SCJ Broad    4-0-16-1

16.1

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, nicely played by Kayes, rode the bounce and played it down towards point where Collingwood fields well

16.2

Broad to Imrul Kayes, no run, nicely bowled by Broad, he really looks a stronger bowler after his enforced time out the side, this leapt up at Kayes, who dropped his hands well to let it go

16.3

Broad to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, nicely played again, riding the bounce and dropping it into leg side for a single

16.4

Broad to Jahurul Islam, SIX, well, it wasn't quite how he planned it but Jahurul can be pleased, Broad shoved it in short from round the wicket, Jahurul swished a big hook shot which flew off the top edge and sailed for six behind square leg

16.5

Broad to Jahurul Islam, 3 runs, short again and Jahurul is happy to pull again, not quite timed but he got plenty of it and it runs towards the boundary at straightish midwicket

16.6

Broad to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, very good from Kayes, slower ball is full and he played it with soft hands to mid off, scampering through for a single

End of over 17 (11 runs) Bangladesh 88/2 (RR: 5.17)
Imrul Kayes    29* (45b 3x4)      SCJ Broad    5-0-27-1

End of over 18 (3 runs) Bangladesh 91/2 (RR: 5.05)
Jahurul Islam    14* (14b 1x6)      MH Yardy    1-0-3-0
Imrul Kayes    31* (49b 3x4)      SCJ Broad    5-0-27-1

Change of ends for Luke Wright. He return in place of Stuart Broad.

18.1

Wright to Imrul Kayes, no run, Wright starts as well from this end as he did the other, good length and line and defended

18.2

Wright to Imrul Kayes, no run, Kayes advanced down the wicket and aims a big heave outside off, finds nothing and there's a gentle appeal from Wright

18.3

Wright to Imrul Kayes, 1 wide, arrowed well down the leg side and he'll have to bowl that again

18.3

Wright to Imrul Kayes, 2 runs, oops, not smart that, driven on the up to extra cover where Anderson half stopped it, Broad picked up the ball and hurled it at the bowler's end where they get an overthrow off the richochet

18.4

Wright to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, routinely worked down to third man for another single

18.5

Wright to Jahurul Islam, no run, oh no! Shahzad again! Jahurul aimed a massive drive down the ground and could not have timed it worse, it looped towards mid off where Shahzad was on his heels, probably thinking the ball had been timed better, ended up lolling to him on the bounce

18.6

Wright to Jahurul Islam, no run, punched off the backfoot to cover

End of over 19 (4 runs) Bangladesh 95/2 (RR: 5.00)
Jahurul Islam    14* (16b 1x6)      LJ Wright    4-0-17-0

Yardy to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, pushed wide of mid wicket for a gentle single

19.3

Yardy to Jahurul Islam, 2 runs, England have looked a bit lazy and sloppy today and the field and are being punished here, worked towards midwicket and the throw came it very wide and went for an extra

19.4

Yardy to Jahurul Islam, no run, this time there is nothing on offer for Jahurul, quietly defended

19.5

Yardy to Jahurul Islam, no run, darted in from wide of the crease, Jahurul blocks

19.6

20.2

47.6

Anderson to Mashrafe Mortaza, FOUR, Mashrafe finally finds the boundary as he backs away to leg and thumps a full ball through cover. That's the first boundary for 10 overs!

The Red Bulls have dominated qualifying at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone … but not so good for Jenson Button. Follow all the action, news and photos on ESPNF1

49.3

Anderson to Mashrafe Mortaza, 1 run, OUT, low full toss thrashed out to long-on... terrible mix-up with the running and both batsmen end up at the non-striker's end. Oh dear.

Mashrafe Mortaza run out 22 (26m 25b 2x4 1x6) SR: 88.00

49.4

Anderson to Abdur Razzak, no run, slower ball bouncer first up, and for some reason Razzak just ducks underneath it

49.6

Anderson to Mahmudullah, 2 runs, low full toss drilled firmly straight back down the wicket, the ball ricochets off the stumps and rolls down to Morgan at long-on. And that's that!

It's been an odd game of cricket so far. England were slightly off in the field, and Bangladesh just coasted through the second half of their innings and no-one really had a go until Mashrafe Mortaza arrived at the crease. Their total, 236 for 7, appears to be a sub-par one and England shouldn't have too much trouble chasing it down. Although there was some variable bounce in the wicket and the quicker bowlers found a touch of wobble through the air, this is a good track for batting and it's a mystery as to why Bangladesh never really tried to take the attack to England. While we, and the players, take lunch, have a look at Andrew McGlashan's bulletin.

End of over 50 (5 runs) Bangladesh 236/7
Mahmudullah    24* (34b)      JM Anderson    9-0-46-0
Abdur Razzak    1* (2b)      SCJ Broad    10-0-60-1
