  • Overs 1-50
  • Overs 51-100
  • Overs 101-150
3.1

Kumar to Cook, FOUR, Cook is away and England are away, finally! Starts with a boundary too. Short from Kumar, which at his pace is a sin, Cook leaps into a cut shot. Harbhajan laboured after it but couldn't really dive well enough

England 4/0   AN Cook 4* (7b 1x4)   P Kumar 1.1-1-4-0
14.5

Sharma to Strauss, FOUR, short, wide and wild outside off. Strauss collects his first boundary by swaying back and slashing the uppercut down to third man

England 28/1   AJ Strauss 12* (48b 1x4)   I Sharma 0.5-0-5-0
16.6

Sharma to Trott, FOUR, and there we go, Sharma offers a length delivery on the hips and Trott deflects it to the fine leg boundary for four

England 35/1   IJL Trott 8* (14b 1x4)   I Sharma 2-0-10-0
17.5

Kumar to Strauss, FOUR, neatly clipped off the toes, and Gambhir at midwicket races across to save the boundary ... or try and save the boundary, rather. He slides, gets a hand on the ball but can't control it, and it rolls on to touch the boundary marker

England 39/1   AJ Strauss 17* (57b 2x4)   P Kumar 8.5-4-18-0
21.3

Sharma to Trott, FOUR, edged! but there's no third slip to take the chance, it was back of length once more from Ishant, chases a widish delivery, a healthy edge that flies wide of second slip

England 50/1   IJL Trott 15* (23b 2x4)   I Sharma 3.3-0-18-0
29.2

Sharma to Trott, FOUR, lovely timing from Trott, the typical Ishant back of a length, on the pads, Trott clips that off the back foot past square leg, not much power in the shot, but right off the middle and the slope helps the ball as well

England 69/2   IJL Trott 22* (43b 3x4)   I Sharma 7.2-2-27-0
30.2

Kumar to Trott, FOUR, another bit of perfect timing from Trott, again he is aided by the slope, Praveen slips it a touch short, Trott stands tall on the crease and eases it past point for a boundary

England 74/2   IJL Trott 27* (49b 4x4)   P Kumar 9.2-4-22-0
32.3

Kumar to Pietersen, FOUR, length ball on offstump, bit of an outside edge past the slips, and once again the Lord's slope helps England, the ball running away to the boundary

England 81/2   KP Pietersen 6* (25b 1x4)   P Kumar 10.3-4-29-0
34.5

Kumar to Pietersen, FOUR, edged but safe. Another Praveen peach, that. Seam pointing to slip all the time as it angles in and darts away from the line of middle and off. KP stretches out and looks to drive to the leg side, the leading edge eludes a diving Laxman in the cordon and runs away down the slope.

England 89/2   KP Pietersen 13* (37b 2x4)   P Kumar 11.5-4-35-0
39.4

Khan to Trott, FOUR, edged and safe. Do you term that a drop? Jaffa from Zaheer, it shapes away off the seam and squares up Trott, and gets the edge as he looks to cover the line. So the seam did for Trott. And then, some late swing did for Dhoni and Dravid. Not much distance between the two, but Dravid was well back. Dhoni was going for it, but it moved away alarmingly and ended up landing just behind Dravid's feet, to his left. Trott has no clue, just looks happy to be there. Zaheer is livid. First runs off Zaheer in 34 balls. And they come in this fashion!

England 99/2   IJL Trott 36* (64b 5x4)   Z Khan 12.4-8-13-2
41.2

Khan to Trott, FOUR, well played, Trott gets inside the line of a short ball and rolls the wrists well over it to pick up four through square leg.

England 107/2   IJL Trott 44* (74b 6x4)   Z Khan 13.2-8-18-2
42.3

Harbhajan Singh to Trott, FOUR, sublime stroke from Trott to bring up the 50-stand. Over-pitched outside off alright, but the grace with which he leaned into the drive was other-worldly. Lovely, smooth flowing drive through the covers, it blitzes along the carpet.

England 112/2   IJL Trott 48* (80b 7x4)   Harbhajan Singh 3.3-0-11-0
45.6

Kumar to Trott, FOUR, back of a length to end the over, Trott charms a nudge through midwicket and the ball inexplicably purrs away through to the boundary. He's looking the part here.

England 121/2   IJL Trott 54* (95b 8x4)   P Kumar 16.3-5-44-0
50.2

Kumar to Trott, FOUR, floated up at a driveable length, pretty gentle but that's okay in the search for swing. Trott leans into a drive, times it better than everyone expects, and it hurries away down the hill for four

England 131/2   IJL Trott 62* (106b 9x4)   P Kumar 17.5-5-50-0
53.3

Sharma to Pietersen, FOUR, Pietersen lands this one perfectly. Walks across the stumps again and gets the full ball he needs to clip powerfully through straight mid-on for four

England 139/2   KP Pietersen 30* (87b 3x4)   I Sharma 13.3-3-38-0
54.4

Kumar to Pietersen, FOUR, ah lovely shot. Pietersen walks across and then very gently pushes the ball straight back past the bowler. First one he's really timed. Tendulkar is too wide at mid-on and it speeds down to the boundary

England 146/2   KP Pietersen 36* (93b 4x4)   P Kumar 20.1-5-57-0
64.3

Harbhajan Singh to Pietersen, FOUR, slower through the air, tossed up, but turning down the leg side and KP gets enough of a tickle on it to send it on its way fine

England 166/3   KP Pietersen 47* (117b 5x4)   Harbhajan Singh 10.3-2-28-0
70.2

Harbhajan Singh to Bell, FOUR, that is a fine shot from Bell, lunges forward as he sees flight on a fuller one and picks it over square leg with a huge swing, superb execution

England 183/3   IR Bell 12* (23b 1x4)   Harbhajan Singh 13.2-2-43-0
71.5

Kumar to Bell, FOUR, that is deft from Bell, away movement from a length, he hangs in the crease, and opens the face to guide it past slips

England 190/3   IR Bell 18* (30b 2x4)   P Kumar 27.2-8-65-1
72.1

Harbhajan Singh to Pietersen, FOUR, and KP slithers down the track smoothly and lofts a flighted ball to the long off boundary

England 194/3   KP Pietersen 58* (143b 6x4)   Harbhajan Singh 14.1-2-50-0
72.6

Harbhajan Singh to Bell, FOUR, given width outside off, will back away outside leg, and play the cut through point, to pick up four runs

England 199/3   IR Bell 22* (35b 3x4)   Harbhajan Singh 15-2-55-0
74.1

Harbhajan Singh to Bell, FOUR, has made no difference to the length though, it is short and Bell is not letting it go, he rocks back to put it away emphatically behind point

England 205/3   IR Bell 26* (36b 4x4)   Harbhajan Singh 15.1-2-59-0
75.1

Sharma to Pietersen, FOUR, smack! that is as authoritative a shot as any, KP will not let those go, overpitched, bit of width outside off and he creams it past extra cover

England 211/3   KP Pietersen 66* (152b 7x4)   I Sharma 18.1-4-54-0
79.5

Dhoni to Bell, FOUR, no drama when Bell is on strike. Just serenity. Glides a back-cut away beautifully

England 224/3   IR Bell 32* (47b 5x4)   MS Dhoni 1.5-0-6-0
85.6

Dhoni to Pietersen, FOUR, when he first played this it looked gentle but it sped straight back past Dhoni and kept on getting quicker. Sharma chased to no avail. Nothing more than a push to a half-volley

England 242/3   KP Pietersen 86* (200b 8x4)   MS Dhoni 5-0-20-0
87.4

Sharma to Pietersen, FOUR, seemed like Pietersen knew what was coming. He was in position to pull this so early and it flew to the boundary. Gambhir was close to it but it was struck too hard

England 250/3   KP Pietersen 92* (207b 9x4)   I Sharma 19.4-4-61-0
88.4

Kumar to Bell, FOUR, ah lovely shot. Caressed. It was floated up invitingly, but Bell's timing was sweet. Through cover and the fielder, chased, chased, dived, but could never quite catch up

England 256/3   IR Bell 43* (65b 6x4)   P Kumar 28.1-8-69-1
91.3

Sharma to Pietersen, FOUR, what a fine shot to bring up a fine century! KP drills an over-pitched ball on off after moving into line, just thumps it with class between the bowler and mid-on. Slowest KP hundred, he jumps up and punches the air immediately. He's pleased and why not. It's been a while since he made a 100 in England. He now has one in the 2000th Test.

England 266/3   KP Pietersen 102* (216b 10x4)   I Sharma 21.3-4-73-0
91.5

Sharma to Pietersen, FOUR, Ishant is trying to hoodwink him with changes of length, but it doesn't work in this over. Very full on off stump, KP did not expect it as he moved across and then just tried to defend, ended up getting an outside edge that rolled away through the vacancies in the cordon.

England 270/3   KP Pietersen 106* (218b 11x4)   I Sharma 21.5-4-77-0
93.3

Sharma to Pietersen, FOUR, horror ball. No pace, no effort, no nothing pretence of a bouncer. Petersen majestically plonks the front foot down the pitch and sledgehammers the pull through midwicket.

England 274/5   KP Pietersen 110* (222b 12x4)   I Sharma 22.3-4-81-0
96.3

Kumar to Prior, FOUR, lovely shot from Prior. Praveen tries to shape it in again, from outside off, Prior waits for it to come beside him, sets up a solid base and eases it through point. Flutter of applause around the home of cricket. Idyllic.

England 282/5   MJ Prior 6* (11b 1x4)   P Kumar 32-10-75-3
98.3

Kumar to Prior, FOUR, that's the second time Prior has taken him through the off side, but this one deserved to be hit. Short and wide outside off, the seam movement took it further away, Prior eased into position and cracked the cut.

England 286/5   MJ Prior 10* (17b 2x4)   P Kumar 33-10-79-3
100.2

Kumar to Prior, FOUR, width outside off, Prior goes hard at it and lashes it off the outside edge well over the slips for a boundary.

England 298/5   MJ Prior 17* (26b 3x4)   P Kumar 33.5-10-85-3
103.3

Raina to Pietersen, FOUR, real crack of the bat as Pietersen played this. It was short and sat up to be hit, Pietersen leant back and smashed it in front of Kumar at deep cover who never looked like reaching it

England 310/5   KP Pietersen 119* (246b 13x4)   SK Raina 0.3-0-5-0
107.1

Harbhajan Singh to Prior, FOUR, air from Harbhajan! But he overcooked it and Prior climbed into the half-volley. Laced it to the boundary

England 331/5   MJ Prior 29* (51b 4x4)   Harbhajan Singh 24.1-3-91-0
110.1

Sharma to Prior, FOUR, I wonder if Sharma is just struggling with his run up here, looked totally out of rhythm on this ball, slapping it down very short. Prior rocked back, waited and swatted it over mid-on for four. Dangerous times for India, England could really run away with things here

England 344/5   MJ Prior 39* (62b 5x4)   I Sharma 27.1-4-93-0
119.2

Harbhajan Singh to Prior, FOUR, reverse-swept up and over the slip and down to third man for four. Nicely played, he placed the shot perfectly

England 383/5   MJ Prior 65* (88b 6x4)   Harbhajan Singh 30.2-3-121-0
119.5

Harbhajan Singh to Prior, FOUR, swiped to wide long on! This time Prior waited in the crease, picking up the length and hammering the ball between the fielders in the deep

England 389/5   MJ Prior 71* (91b 7x4)   Harbhajan Singh 30.5-3-127-0
122.3

Kumar to Pietersen, FOUR, a low full toss is cracked with great authority to the deep midwicket boundary, and that's 150 for Kevin Pietersen. Off comes the helmet, up goes the bat

England 395/7   KP Pietersen 151* (301b 14x4)   P Kumar 40-10-100-5
122.4

Kumar to Pietersen, FOUR, and now he skips down the track to send a scything drive flying over mid-off!

England 399/7   KP Pietersen 155* (302b 15x4)   P Kumar 40.1-10-104-5
125.3

Harbhajan Singh to Swann, FOUR, smashed over mid-off! Swann is going to play his shots here. He skipped down at Harbhajan to slap a half-volley over the infield

England 409/7   GP Swann 8* (14b 1x4)   Harbhajan Singh 33.3-3-136-0
126.1

Sharma to Pietersen, FOUR, nope. What a shot. Pietersen walks out aggressively at Sharma and absolutely hammers a drive back past him. Not quite the flamingo flick, but his back leg was in the air

England 415/7   KP Pietersen 162* (310b 16x4)   I Sharma 29.1-5-99-0
126.3

Sharma to Pietersen, FOUR, extravagant stuff! Pietersen walks across and lifts the leg glance up to puncture the long leg boundary. Total confidence in the shot

England 421/7   KP Pietersen 168* (312b 17x4)   I Sharma 29.3-5-105-0
126.6

Sharma to Pietersen, FOUR, well, he's really opening up now. Long-off was brought up for the final ball and he smacked the very next ball up and over mid-off. Four more, and 16 off the over

England 427/7   KP Pietersen 173* (314b 18x4)   I Sharma 30-5-111-0
127.2

Harbhajan Singh to Swann, FOUR, slogged to midwicket! Swann bends into a powerful sweep to collect his second boundary

England 431/7   GP Swann 14* (19b 2x4)   Harbhajan Singh 34.2-3-142-0
127.6

Harbhajan Singh to Swann, FOUR, that's how to play the switch-hit! Swann gets into position early and the ball pings right out of the middle

England 441/7   GP Swann 23* (22b 3x4)   Harbhajan Singh 35-3-152-0
128.6

Sharma to Pietersen, FOUR, lovely batting. Bisected the deep field perfectly. Sharma is suffering here. Pietersen knows what the bowler is doing so strolls miles outside off and clips a full ball between fine leg and deep square. The run rate climbs to 3.5 now

England 451/7   KP Pietersen 183* (319b 19x4)   I Sharma 31-5-121-0
130.5

Sharma to Tremlett, FOUR, no luck for Sharma, plenty for Tremlett. Prods forward and it scoots off an inside edge, past the stumps, past a diving Dhoni all the way for four

England 458/8   CT Tremlett 4* (4b 1x4)   I Sharma 31.5-5-128-0
131.1

Raina to Pietersen, FOUR, Pietersen into the 190s in style! Shoves his foot down, swings his arms at the ball and pings it to the long-on boundary

England 462/8   KP Pietersen 190* (323b 20x4)   SK Raina 2.1-1-13-1
131.4

Raina to Pietersen, FOUR, double for Pietersen! The smile is back on his face! Gets to the milestone by chopping a cut to the point rope. What's more, England declare.

England 474/8   KP Pietersen 202* (326b 21x4 1x6)   SK Raina 2.4-1-25-1
